To answer the topic question - no. I got the Jazz version and never played it much, to be honest. Aside from roster changes and maybe slightly better graphics, I'm not sure what would be new to warrant purchasing a different version.

I'm getting it but the regular edition. I am not paying 30 bucks to have it 4 days early since I don't really enjoy DD anyway.

I've never understood paying extra for early access for games - why would I pay more for the same thing in a couple more days? I'm not that impatient.

If you play diamond dynasty, I guess that can be an incentive since it gives packs and stubs. But for non-DD players, it really is a waste of money

Honestly, some of the modes seemed confusing, and when I did play, I wound up just doing the road to the show or whatever it's called where you create your character and move him up the ranks.

That's a fun mode. I like franchise mode most of all.

Diamond Dynasty is where you create your own fake team and get packs of cards to fill out the roster.

I think I got confused by the setup mode of franchise......IIRC (it was a while ago, so i may have it wrong), there was an option to be the GM or a player I think? If you're the GM, do you actually do anything? or does it auto sim games and stuff?

I never actually tried the GM or Manager mode (forgot what it is called), but I think it is like OOTP where you're more focused on the front office organizational aspect.

Player is where you play the actual games, that's the one I use always. You can choose to sim in this mode if you want at times too.

Oh, I thought franchise was where you built the franchise as GM.

You're talking about a player mode of franchise? Is that where you pitch, field etc?

So how do you "play" as the GM? Is it just analyzing games and making moves without actually playing the games?

You can absolutely do that if you want by simulating the games.

Set certain things to automatic (lineups and such) and set signings, trades, etc to manual, make all the moves you want, simulate the games.

In Franchise, you can control as much or as little as you want. So you can be GM, manager, and all the players, or just manage or just GM or even player-lock if you want to just play as one guy.

Haven't bought it yet, may just wait for a sale on it
