Good:

- The Marlins can use Miami Beach's $73M to help build the stadium because it will be in Miami-Dade county

- Saves the city more money than any other site, or completly seperate stadiums

- Better chance of walk-up, or rather walk/drive/metro over, sales

 

Bad:

- From my point of view, UM is getting too much and it could save all those involved a lot of money and time if theyd agree to someone like Bank One Ballpark

- With two stadiums on the lot, where's the parking? The city will have to buy out/condemn many houses to build parking lots and expand roads. If not close to the stadium (in the middle of an area of many possible baseball fans) then somewhere else with parkign lots, buses and a metrorail stop. A great chance at public backlash.

- Far from present fan base

Sure, the season ticket holders live in Broward and PBC. Why? PPS is closer to those areas.

you can't try again in 10 years. the team will be paying this off for decades. this isn't a temporary solution; it'll be the new permanent home of the florida marlins..

This is just my opinion, but this looks absolutely horrendous. Shouldn't the new ob look at least remotely like a football field? The most succesful team in the last 20 years is going to play in that crap? Goodbye home field advantage. The baseball stadium looks goofy too. What is with one base line's seats being taller than the other. If you are going to do something this expensive, why not just find some more money and build an actual baseball stadium? What exactly is the price difference if we where to just build an open air, no roof stadium somewhere else and leave the ob as it is? If you are going to spend a crapload of money on a stadium, why not just go all out and get something that doesn't look retarded? Im not understanding the ob Idea at all.

It is the south tower (one where tv cameras are).

 

The tower thing is my only problem. Have two seperate buidlings with the OB keeping it's usual bowl form and the ballpark the way it is.

No, I mean seperating the stadiums. Sharing the concession stands, equipment closets and bathrooms for one side of each stadium saves about $150M over seperating the stadiums entirely.

As is, I would probably rate it low. However, there's a chance (albeit slight) that they can alter the design a bit so that it would look more like a decent ballpark. I want to see if they can manage to do that.
