  1. Funny how he brags about being a season ticket holder yet I'm pretty sure I'm at the ballpark more times than him every year and I'm not a season ticket holder.

I can tell you he was nowhere to be seen at Marlins Park after the all star break. He's not a Marlins fan. He's a self promoter. Season ticket holders will be very happy if he doesn't renew.

  2. On the marlins ticket site it specifically says that it's for two strips.

That's right. The $1,374 ($687 per strip) and $1,524 ($762 per strip) both look correct for two strips. I've got 4 for $3,408 in Home Plate Box ($852 per strip).  Whatever you see on the website is the total for however many tickets you have.

  3. Yeah thats crazy. I'm guessing that's for an individual game? Or is that if you buy all six games?

I don't think the $75 is correct. The home plate plate box seats down low that are $54 for Marlins games are only $35 per game for WBC if you buy all six games. Very reasonable and that's why it's almost sold out.
  4. I was at the game Monday and have wanted to watch it especially to hear Rich's commentary on it and I can't bring myself to do it. It's all still feeling like a blur to me.

As painful as it is, it's worth watching. I was at the game as well and there are certain things you will see on the telecast that you might have missed being there.

  5. I don't see how we have a spot for Gomez now that Scruggs was called up. Scruggs will take the spot of the extra pitcher we've been carrying. To have room for Gomez before rosters expand, we'd have to get rid of Mathis, Rojas, CJ, Dietrich or Ichiro. CJ is the only possibility. But, I don't see it happening for a guy with 100 strikeouts in 295 at bats this year.

  6. Have they said who starts Wednesday? I'm assuming they go with Koehler and then Thursday skips Rea's spot so that it's Cashner Conley Jose against the Rockies and you leave the fifth starter spot until next Tuesday to either bring someone up, pick up someone, or stretch out Phelps.

I was wondering the same thing. Do you save Jose for Monday at home against the Giants and allow him to avoid Coors Field? You would then need Phelps or whoever the 5th starter is for Sunday.
  7. So the Padres insist Rea was healthy Friday and that the Marlins did see his medical records and that they were clean... but they said they did the trade back because it was "in the best interests of everyone involved", which sounds kinda fishy... but the Padres mlb.com reporter says the Padres never wanted to trade Rea because of his five years of club control so he implies they did the trade back to get back the guy they never wanted to trade to begin with. So, while the Marlins have reason to want compensation for Rea's immediate injury, it sounds like the Padres did this to absolutely win the overall trade. They dump Cashner for a huge return and don't even have to lose the one guy they didn't wanna trade to begin with. It's like they spent big bucks to get something and then immediately get a rebate! Hey Mike Hill...fuck off.

Amazing some of the stuff that gets said on here. We get possibly our best pitching prospect back for a guy that likely won't pitch again until 2018, and has a career ERA of almost 5, and we got the worst of the deal? I look at it as we got less screwed.
  8. Curious whether there was a clause in the contract that triggered this if Marlins were concerned about injury risk. Or whether Padres are doing this before MLB steps in if they knew he was damaged goods. Castillo is a major prospect. To get him back is big. Could be flipped again or could be in the rotation in the next couple of years.

  9. Like most of us on here who are real fans, we are interested in a good team for the long term, not just one year. I was pretty upset with the deal, especially with Capps added. But, as I sit back and look at this, it all comes down to whether ownership is ready to open up the pocketbook. If we pay Jose, Ozuna, JT, Prado etc when their contracts are up, and keep this core together, this is a playoff caliber team for many years. If we start unloading them because we can't pay them, then we have nothing to replenish with in the minors and we are back to a multi year rebuilding.

  10. Regardless of what the rankings say, I think Castillo and Paddack were the Marlins top 2 pitching prospects. Paddack is gone and now everyone wants Castillo. And, nobody talks about the good moves the Marlins have made. They got Castillo and Kendry Flores for Casey McGehee.

  11. The old adage of things work themselves out will come into play this weekend. Dietrich struggling, Bour still out, Dee returning. We shall see

Is he eligible to come back Thursday or Friday? It's about a 50/50 split in all the articles I've read.

  12. I wonder if this strange move has to do with remaining minor league options. This is basically a 7 game replacement. If they were to bring up Scruggs they would have to DFA him when Bour comes back and would likely lose him to another club. I'm not sure about Tellis. I'm guessing he still has some minor league options left. Kelly will also have to be DFA, but, I doubt he would be claimed nor would the Marlins care if he was.

  13. Yeah I'll take first and second 1 out over man on 3rd 2 outs every time.

There we're no outs. He wouldn't have been bunting with one out. The idea was to get Ichiro to third with one out. Fly ball and you have the lead. Realmuto missed two bunts and then was obviously swinging away with 2 strikes. He walked. No damage done. Even more reason to bunt with Prado up there and double play possibility.

Again, fundamental baseball. Teams do it to the Marlins all the time.
