NC State - Duke, #1 vs. #2 in the ACC face off

Featured Replies

State leads by 10 at half time. Their home court.

If Duke loses this game should they lose the top spot in the polls? Who should tsake over, Stanford, St. Joes, Pitt or Miss State?

Yeah, if we (DUKE!) lose, then we go to #3, and Stanford is #1. But polls are really quite pointless in NCAA basketball. Really, they matter more at the bottom than the top.

I want to win, but a loss wouldn't be the worst thing. Gotta stay hungry.

Duke cut it to 5 points with 7 minutes left.

Duke's Sheldon WIlliams and State's Scooter Sherrill (arguably each team's best two players) have 4 fouls against them.

did you guys hear scooter sherrill's comment on JJ Redick. He said that when Redick is backpedaling down the floor holding his hand in the followthrough he looks like he is gay. I now have a respect for Scooter.

Hodge is state's best player no doubt about it.

Yeah, I was gonna say...

Duhon's Duke's best. Shelden could be #4 or #5. He could also be #2. Depends on the night.

Yeah, homophobic comments are pretty cool...

Isn't Reddick a pothead? I thought I read he got busted for possession once.

I think St. Joe's should get the top spot. Yeah, yeah, A-10 isn't that good but it's almost on par with this year's Pac-10. Stanford, when healthy, would probably win on a neutral court, but St. Joe's has flat out dominated its competition. Stanford has been close to a 1 or 2 loss team this year too often.

Fair enough.

Sherill and Williams are each team's best defensive players.

yea he did. and homophobic comments are only funny when aimed at Dookies.

All I want to know is if the State crowd make their way out of the arena and out onto the football field to tear down the goalposts.

Not so fast.

Reddick hits three feree throws, then Duke intercepts the inbound pass and gets the shot down. 76-74 State. 7.2 secs left. State ball.

whew... i almost spoke too soon. i should have known better after seeing duke over the years. most famous comeback... down 10 with a minute left against maryland a few years ago.

In other ACC the Heels defeated Maryland today 97-87 in the Dean Dome. That was a huge win. The game was real ugly. it sucks when refs call 8 million fouls and take over the game.

80 Free Throws. 50 for UNC. That's just ridiculous.

I turned that crap off mid-way.

Kind of funny that before the game Maryland was last in the ACC in free throw shooting (challenging the all-time record even) and Carolina wasn't that far ahead.

Also, Wake beat Cincy. Mighty impressive.
