Freddy said he's 90% ready and that he feels fine. He run fine today, probably didn't run all that hard at first to not risk re injuring but later in the game he run full speed and slowed down carefully after first base.
I'm sure the team and the trainer are being careful and if they give him the green light there's little risk.

The more I think about it, the more I'm in the moderate camp of Hotcorner.
If ARod is made available, to the Marlins specifically and we don't have to forfeit Cabrera, Hanley or more than 1 rotation starter from this year for him, you do it and get it done with.
However, my deepest fear is that this trade leaves us weakened. Not to the point of hopelessness, but to the point where another move would be required to address the loss.
Realistically, we're going to lose Dontrelle, Olsen or Sanchez plus some non-roster talent for ARod. Are we getting the better end of the deal? Probably, but given the payroll issues, I'm hesitant to call it a slam dunk, and that's saying nothing of the potential implications it could have handcuffing us when Cabrera, Hanley, Uggla and whoever's left in the rotation need to be extended.
If the ARod trade signals the begin anew era of spending, trading Willis or Olsen isn't terrible because ultimately they can be replaced with a one or two year stop-gap until West or Thompson or Volstad is fully ready...I'm reluctant to say Petit could get the job done given that he'd have to replace, at worst, the #2 guy in our rotation. There are going to be plenty of older arms out there, some of whom we've flirted with before (Maddux for starters) who make plenty of sense as a short term, win now, signing.
However, if the offseason is the ARod trade and then head into spring training...no thank you.
I think this past season's team, given a reasonably upgraded bullpen, is in much better shape than the depleated rotation, thin bullpen team that an ARod trade and nothing else brings us.
I still say do it and do it fast, but these are the Loria led Marlins we're talking about...there are plenty of ways this can blow up in our faces.
We may have a sh*tty owner and president but we do have a great GM in Beinfest. He got most of this guys here for a purpose and he knows what we have and what we need. I'm sure he won't get crazy and get rid of players we need and are cheap just to get arod and not address our other needs, and even more knowing how cheap loria is and we may have another Delgado in the making.
In the end, in Beinfest we trust, and he knows what's best for the team. The only way he trades for Arod is if overall the team will have less needs and not more by trading away our staff.

A-rod also has a no-trade clause so they can't trade him if he doesn't allow it. Knowing he grew up here it wouldn't surprise me he allow it if they don't want him anymore.
But it is hard for me too believe the marlins will pay 8-10 million a year just on one player and that's after the yankees cover the rest.

I'm still undecided as to whether Joe should be fired or not. He made some
dumb decisions at times that made me wish he would get fired on the spot
but at the same time this was just his first year managing so you kinda have
to give him a break. I just hope and pray that whoever is managing next
year will do a good job so we don't have to second guess ourselves. And
good luck to Joe.
If you were to fire a manager for the stupid desitions on the field then every team will have to change it every year. Plus remember it was his first year, how many veteran managers that has been doing it for decades make stupid desitions? Give him a break.

Why Tuesday? Something wrong with today or Monday?
Monday is Yom Kippur and the Marlins are not expected to conduct any business that day.
"I'm going to observe the holiday Monday, and I know David Samson [team president] and Jeffrey are as well," Beinfest said. "I'm not sure there will be any business conducted on Monday."

I think I speak for everyone when I say, Wildmarlinman really needs to STFU.
We don't need a thread about how much you hate Girardi every f***ing day. We get it you don't like him.
Thanks!
There is a quote that I can't remember that says that "anyone can manage a baseball game with all the tools they have now, but not everyone can get 25 strange guys to play hard for 162 games. I can't believe a baseball fan don't have a clue about this.
Talent alone doen't make a winning team, what our talented team did last year???
You put this young team with a manager like McKeon and they don't even come close to the record they have this year.

Dontrelle to be a daddy
in Miami Marlins
After Dontrelle Willis finished pitching the Marlins to victory Monday night, he headed to the hospital, where his wife was going to be induced into on labor. On Tuesday night, Adriana Rose Willis was born, weighing 6 pounds, 6 ounces. Willis was not at the stadium as Tuesday night's game was set to begin. "When he comes, I hope he brings some good cigars," said Gonzalez

wow. that's a small baby. I wonder why she was induced with such a small baby
I was wondering the same thing.
if she was due they have no other option
