You guys better hurry up. Klapish is reporting that the giants, mets, and yankees have a three-way deal in the works. Don't let the Yankees be part of this deal... http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?qstr=e...2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk2

I think the Mets are more interested in getting Adrian Gonzalez than any of those pitchers for Benitez. Nope, the Mets have three first basmen already. Although this would be a bad deal all those pitchers for benitez and burnitz since it seems like all these pitchers are mediocre.

Thats what was said... I wouldn't be surprised if there was more then that or if the trade didn't even fall through. Also just remember, Piazza was in like the 35th round pick...

Thats why I am so happy with Duke. Trading the no use Alomar, for a former first round pick who is right on track was a great trade. I wonder who we will get from you if the trade goes through.

UMMM... Mets not only will be able to rid there bad contracts (besides cedeno) their farm is amazing. I think that next year our farm will be rated as one of the best. Especially if Kazmir continues to do great. The last game he pithed, a couple of days ago, he pitched a 7 inning one hit shutout. Another pitcher, Petersen, in St. Lucie (their high A team) is also continuing to do well. His last game was a 7 inning 3 hit shutout. They would make a great 1-2 in the future. Then you add Huber, a top catching prospect to the mix. Also they have Garcia a second basemen who is struggling a little bit but is projected to be pretty good. Plus there 5 man rotation in Binghamton (AA) are also all prospects. Then they have Ring, Moreno, and Yates, all great relievers. Also who know who they will get this year in deals. You guys might give us somebody good. \

I am rooting for you guys this year. I don't care who wins as long as it isn't the braves. Looks like they will win again though :banghead Your board has better smilies then all the mets boards :elefant

Yeah I have to be happy with our farm/young team. We have a top catcher prospect, a top ss prospect and a top LHP prospect. Not to mention we have a an above average second base prospect, Wiggy at third, and Phillips who is surprisingly good. Then we have like 6 or 7 pitching prospect besides Kazmir and 2 top relief pitching prospects. In 2-4 years the Mets could dethrone the Braves :thumbup

Jeromy Burnitz?
I'll do it oh wait thats what Phillips would say. As long as Mo stays on the DL for 45 more days, insurance will pick up a bunch of his contract. He should just retire. At least it looks like Piazza is getting better to bad not in time for the all-star game. He lost his streak this year since he was injured for so long. Hopefully he will be one of the announcers for the home run derby, he is great.

Well, if Burnitz is traded and Floyd gets the surgery that he needs the Mets' outfield would consist of 4 4th outfielders and a prospect straight from AA. And I thought the Mets were bad now.

Jeromy Burnitz?
Marlins don't want to trade him and the Mets have 3 firstbasemens so I sincerely doubt he will be in it. I guess it could happen if Duquette is hiding from something. Hey Marlins do you want Mo in on the deal?

Benitez being traded would make my week. Here is another thing to ponder, why did the mets just call up Duncan (outfielder) last night, could it be that Nits is a day away from being traded. Well I don't think it is going to be tonight since Nitz is in the lineup. :banghead

More expansion? Geez no when to cap things. How are they going to expand when they were threatening to contract teams? Incredible. I agree I think it would be stupid to add another wild card. Soon making the playoffs will be nothing special. This is baseball not basketball!

Yeah but somewhere it was reported it would be benitez/burnitz for a handful of prospects. I just hope it isn't a buch of average prospects. I would rather have a couple great prospects. Although I want to get Mando of my team now. I can't stand him and he is great trade bait so I hope there is a deal soon. Also the mets have a closer on there AAA team who looks GREAT. In 28 innings he has a 0.64 ERA and 37 strikeouts so I am guessing he is ready to move up. Also the Mets just traded Alomar for the best relief pitcher prospect in baseball so there is no reason to keep Benitez. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes before the ASB. HE BETTER!

I feel like we can get better for benitez and burnitz but lets see what these gms have up their sleeves.

Jeromy Burnitz?
Why are you so down on Nitz? He is having a career year and his contract ends this year so he isn't a risk. Benitez on the other hand gives me a headache. I hate him and I hate to have him represent the Mets in the ASG. I can't imagine why Duke would trade for Adrian unless he used him as trade bait. Just remember Marlin fans, we fired Steve Phillips so there will be no stupid trades, hopefully. Well Duke is one for one so far.

Hi! So all these pitchers that are thrown around, Bump, Wayne, Neal and Snare, how are they. Are any of them projected to be an ace?

"OBP is the best stat to evaluate a young hitter, because power comes later USUALLY. RBI's dont really mean much when evaluating a player." OBP isn't very acurate when a guy has been only playing 20 games. It is a good sign that he is averaging 1 rbi per game. I am not saying he will keep it up, but it does show that he is clutch and that pressure doesn't get to him. Very important when you are 20 and playing in NY.

Jeromy Burnitz?
I am scared about any trade with you all because the only OF prospect you guys have is untouchable. The pitching is the biggest strength in the Mets' farm and now they are going after like 5 more pitchers. We don't have to many good position players so that is what I would like to get for them. The Mets have always had a weak outfield and their only real prospect in the outfield is Duncan who rumor has it was called up last night. At least who ever we get is for nothing since we don't really have a chance. If the trade goes through you guys are lucky to have Nitz. He always plays with all his heart and gets the dingers when it matters. He rebounded for a HORRIBLE year last year and even though every time he was up to the plate there were lots of boos he still didn't lose hope. No use for him in NY anymore though.

Reyes isn't going to be in any deal to the Marlins. Duke did say that the whole team was touchable but for the right price. The right price for reyes would have to be a young all-star like ARod. Obviously this isn't going to happen so Reyes will stay as a Met. He has booted a bunch of balls but he is only 20. Most kids his age are in A ball. He looks like he is getting better though. Also it is a godd sign that in 20 games he has 19 RBIs. Kazmir is also an untouchable. The only down side to him is that he is short, only 6 feet. He is regarded as the best LHP prospect for good reason. This year he has 91 Ks in 66 innings and has a 2.17 ERA. Last year when he was in short season Brooklyn he was averaging about 2 Ks/inning in about 5 games. So anyways Kazmir and Reyes aren't going anywhere.

I was wondering if Gonzalez can play a position other then 1b. If all he can play is 1B then I don't think he will be traded to the Mets. Next year the have Mo (if he can play), Piazza playing some games there, and Phillips who is having a great year.
