Taking a look back at the trade rumors that have been swirling around regarding Johan Santana, Dontrelle Willis, and Miguel Cabrera, I believe that I may have come up with a blockbuster trade idea that would involve the Marlins, Twins, and Dodgers. Here is my proposal.
Los Angeles Dodgers Get:
3B Miguel Cabrera
SP Johan Santana
Minnesota Twins Get:
SP Dontrelle Willis
3B Andy LaRoche
Florida Marlins Get:
C Russell Martin
SP Brad Penny
OF Matt Kemp
RP Jonathan Broxton
SP Chad Billingsley
RP Jesse Crain
The Dodgers would gain two young superstars that would give them a great chance at winning a championship, the Twins would gain a cheaper, younger pitcher who could become an ace for the Twins and could help Liriano as well as a top third base prospect, and the Marlins would gain an All-Star starting pitcher (Penny) who will make the same money as Dontrelle will next season, a top notch starting catcher who is only 24, and some signifcant pitching help both in the starting rotation and the bullpen with two potential future closers. Once that takes place, the deal would actually save us money that we could use to replace Cabrera with A-Rod at third base.
How does this trade sound?
Why would the Twins do this? Willis didn't fair to well int he NL and you want to throw him into the AL Central?
