If I was a guy trying to make a big-league roster on a team capable of making the playoffs and thus winning it all, then why wouldn't i show up early and show the team that I'm ready to contribute (No-shows Friday: Hanley Ramirez, Jorge Cantu, Alfredo Amezaga, Wes Helms, Robert Andino, Dallas McPherson. But regulars aren't due to report until Monday. The first full-squad workout is Tuesday.)

So nobody worried everything is okay and we're just gonna pick up where we left off last season. Lindstronm gonna become Brad Lidge and Hanley's gonna become a 35-35 guy even though he wasn't even proved he can handle the 3 spot. Cantu's just gonna continue to raise his game and Hermida's gonna finally have his bust out season

I think the key to success is that now all of these guys have gotten some of that money how hungry are they gonna be? There are lots of question marks and we need lots of things to break right for us to make the playoffs. Will Lindstrom be able to close better than Greg?(Yes). Will Maybin be a stud out the gate or will it take time? What if Sanchez can't hit, then Helms starts (worse O, better D) or McDallas (better O,worse D)? And what about catcher? We might be looking at this team with teal colored glasses.

I wish MLB would show the 03' Champs instead of showing the damn WHite Sox and the Houston Steriods! Maybin is the key to the whole offseason. If we doesnt show up then who we gonna turn to next? I think that he can't be worse than Abercomibie and they gave him so PT. But I always think what if he fails or gets injured then are the kids ready to contribute at the MLB level now.

After reading all these posts I agree Helms was a bad signing b/c McDallas, Gaby & Cantu are compatable platoon partners and Boni was a bad trade now but when Almezaga is gone thats who's gonna take his spot. If Gibbons flops then we still need another LH OF.

With all the interesting moves made and the shift in philosphy its hard to imagine the same story gets repeated with this team. This was by far the most active team on the market this offseason other than maybe the Yankees and still no recoginition. They could have asked the "what if's" like Maybin, the pitchers or even the different cornermen scenarios. That type of disrepect is why this team always competes so hard. And even before MLB network launched they showed the past WS champs from 04' Red Sox on. I was hoping to see some of my favorite players in Teal again.

As a Marlins fan in TX, I must say that I grew up loving this team from afar and that I would trade this team with the Astros any day of the week! I mean our park is a joke and the owner spends money but on silly players like Tejada and Clemens. He's all about making money. No I don't know much about Lorie but what I read, but I think the way this organization drafts pitching and impact hitters is a model for good baseball. I do wish that somehow we could have kept Miggy and built around him, however trading him for Maybin may make that a mute point. I hope you Florida boys get to keep this team and the stadium is up and running.

WHy they hell would they trade the only other LH in the lineup for some dude who is gonna either be splitting time or in the minors next year. Then I'd really be mad because they really are throwing the season away. I'm sick of all these "rumors". If they really wanted a catcher then Olsen/Willingham would have been enough to get somebody! Hell I'd even think about shipping off Anibal Sanchez for Max Ramirez. Catcher isn't as big a concern as people are making it because they would have gotten one for the four guys shipped out.

So with all this talent on hand and these expectations, is Gonzalez the right man to lead the team or do we need another McKeon type fireballing manager to get the expected results? Nobody here seems to believe in the guy.

I'm saying we wasting time chasing Joe Nelson when we could be searching for some cheaper dudes who might be falling in the cracks. The young bullpen I love with all that gas. We just need a lefty but instead of wasting time with this Nelson dude who we find a new one every year, that we should find a catcher and/or another OF bat

We don't need no more over the hill relievers. What we need to find is a catcher and another bat like Trot Nixon who we let get away while wasting time with those roody poohs.
