  1. if i remember correctly isn't Coughlan a 2B, Morrison a 1B and Dominguez a 3B so we should let them take over their natural positions and trade Sanchez and (i really hate to say it) Uggla for as much "pitching, speed and defense" as possible. If Skipworth isn't ready then a catcher too. Uggla is the soul of this team but a silly contract will hurt this team as much or more than these stupid trades the FO has been making (Boni for Olsen and Hammer and Miggy to Det). When does the confidence run out on Beinfest?? He's becoming a deteriment to this team as well/
  2. i agree that trading Uggla is the right move and signing him long term is gonna do more harm than good. So why those keep saying keep him and build around him? We found him off the scrap heap and have an opportunity to get something big-time in return that will help this team in the FUTURE AND LONGTERM. I believe that the goal is to build a team that competes every year despite the PAYROLL. So only JJ is really locking up tong-term and maybe Maybin IF he has a superstar type season. Even CC has to prove that his rookie year was no fluke before I would lock him up. The Rays and Rangers are regarded as having some of the bes MILB systems around so we should plunder them for PITCHING which is really why we didn't make the PLAYOFFS
  3. D. Young can't he play some LF too along with 1st
  4. i'd rather keep the picks. NJ is the one type of guy we dont have on our roster (high OBP) and we can swap him and Cantu and get an arm for Cantu. We made him and we can make more. No BP arm is worth 2mil on this team if he aint tha closer.
  5. does anyone have the peter gammons story from espn yet? Please post? And what does ESPN stand for?

  7. Rather keep Uggla and move CC to 3rd
  8. Sorry I know that I'm the dunce here but wOBA what is that and why is it important? I understand OBP and OPS because you can't score runs if your not on base but ISO and all that sorry. What can we expect to get for Uggla and is Couglan is moved to 2nd and Carroll platoon with someone in the outfield then we basically need a 3rd baseman right? (No Bonifacio) So if Gaby can play 1st at a decent level and Couglan can play some 3rd (groomed to play 2nd I Know) they why trade Uggla? Especially if he and Cantu are gonna be roughly the same amout of money?
  9. Cheap should be the one word we use. the Phillies went and got Pedro when we needed him more.
  10. Whats the over/under on us keeping him here for ten years?
  11. I admit that I don't know a whole lot , but you are what your record says you are is that correct or not? So if this guy is winning does it matter if its pretty? Unless we're gonna upgrade to a Tony LaRussa type I don't really see the advantage of switching mangers. I say that giving Hermida and Bonifacio to the manager is where the blame should go.
  12. The ideal would be Maybin and CC second because he's a lefty but his bat skills are better than Maybin and he has a more patient approach at the plate. But Maybin doesn't get on base enough to force that hole in the right side of the infield. I think Maybin 2nd would jump start his career since I do believe he would see better pitches but he still has to perform.
  13. Morrison's coming up next year. We're just gonna delay his arbi process because we're freaking cheap so we know that he'll be in LF or 1st. That why I say move CC to 3rd. I really hope that we find someone else to play 2nd because Bonerface is what killed our season giving him all those AB's. And if Sanchez can provide the OBP that Cantu doesn't then I'll forgive low power numbers for now. We have to get better pitching or develop Volstad, West & Miller or we ain't going nowhere and that's why I say go Twins and forget O and go all Defense.
  14. Our offense will be shakey with that lineup I agree but the defense shoud be rock solid or at least hopefully way better than what we are doing now. Our Offense isnt the problem its the pitching and the way that we are scoring runs. We don't have any SB threats or super high OBP guys. Thats why we loved the Nick Johnson deal but we still need better speed and defense. We should follow the Rays model and get more run prevention. And if Offense is all we need then we all know that we got two guys on the Fish Farm that can swing the bat. My point is get something while we can for Cantu because just like we found him on the scrap heap we can find someone else, we always do.
  15. Yeah Yeah Yeah and when we win 90 games again they'll say how do they do it every year with seemingly average stats.
  16. If I had to pick out of anybody I'd say trade Uggla while his value is at an all-time high for two big-time pitching prospects and just let the rookies play. It's not like we haven't done it before. But if I gotta pick then I'm keeping Ross because of his abilty to play all three OF spots. Hermida is gone and Cantu should be. I think Sanchez can replace him. Move Coughlan to 3rd and Bonerface to 2nd(I don't like anymore than ya'll) and give Caroll and Raynor or whoever we got a chance at the LF spot till Morrison is ready(we will delay his super two status). This year's team has proved that we need BETTER starting pitching than what we got. A little tinkering with adding more speed and defense and pitching and we can overtake the teams we chasing. We got outpitched this year and that something none of us predicted.
  17. Uggla has the most value and will the the one who is moved before Ross. We don't have anybody to replace Ross right now, we can just slide Coughlan to 2nd or 3rd and get whater starting pitcher for him. If the Giants gave up ALderson for Sanchez we can get someone right? And Lou has already outlined the arb process thats gonna take place. Cantu is expendable if the right deal comes along, we were gonna trade him for J. Sanchez before the season so I don't think that he's that hard to replace. Plus if Ugg's is at 8 million then isn't that like a 8% of the payroll at 40 million? Doesn't sound like Marlin economics to me. Plus Uggla's value is at an all-time high so maybe we steal somebody great for somebody who's more likely on the way down the hill rather than up. I say trade uggla, hermidand Cantu and load up on SP since all our depth in rookie ball or in the bigs already.
  18. we still got a chance!!!
  19. I thought that the FO was against giving multi-year deals to pitchers because of its thinkings? While I aint against this I'm jus saying if he get hurt or whatever then doesn't that put a strain of our resources for other players? This probably signals to me that we don't have any SP depth and none is on the horizon soon. I think JJ is a elite pitcher but why even if he is signed will he still be traded by the time he gets to the 16-18$ million range?
  20. it was great to see my team on national TV and bragg when they won the game. I thought that we were gonna lose but the boyz showed heart and I think that's why we love this team. We still have a chance but its slim. I was wondering has the team achieved basically what we said at the beginning of the season or have we underachieved. I think that if Andrew Miller could have gave us something that we would be closer to the WC.
  21. This article was written because the Fish are gonna be on ESPN wed. HanRam has everything except Jeter leadership ability. he should have said how he wanted to remain in FLA for the long haul and transform the conception of the small market Marlins to the winning Marlins. Still a great player and maybe the most complete right now.
  22. The team has preformed pretty much to expectations all year just in a different way. We kinda knew we had lost alot of power from our lineup and we knew we had to win a different way ie. Pitching, speed and defense. WE heard that all offseason from the FO and we really didnt improve expect maybe defense. Yet somehow someway this team has found a way to be in the race at the end. Maybe we all are spoiled (Ilive in Houston and watch the Astros everyday) by the awesome talent the Fish have had over the years but we're closer that we think. If the starters would have progressed like they should have then we'd be right where the Rockies are. The inability of our team to acquire players other that "journeyman" (Penny,Smoltz, Garland, or Contreas) has also played a role.
  23. Stranger things have happened but I'd say that we'd trade Uggla etc. first to fill those holes
  24. Maybin and Miller need to live up to expectations that's whats has to change next year for this franchise to take the next step. Uggla, Nolasco and Hermida are probably gone and maybe Cantu too because he hasn't really lived up to what I think we expected from him after what he did last year. We need some guys to take their game to the next level. A dependable closer would be nice too.
  25. Man we need divine intervention and Barry Bonds for Hermida. They bout at least will walk and can't field.
