So we still need a left bat off the bench...
Make him wear a humiliating number and I'm in. Say 69 or 86..... :lol

We should consider grabbing Eric Chavez
yeah, absolutely, why not

Loria is deadly serious.
Contrary to what the Loria-haters claim, since the new stadium became a reality he's spent big bucks locking-up Hanley and JJ for $109 million. That ain't chopped liver. Big deal, $ 109 million. Most teams have twice or more sewn up in future contracts. You think that should forgive all of Loria's sins of the past 7 years ? That should forgive his shopping the franchise to San Antonio & Las Vegas ?

Loria is deadly serious.
He will be spending more money once he is able to make any money from stadium revenues. Exactly. He tried it before, speculating on increased stadium revenue in '05 with Delgado. Didn't work. Fans didn't show. Retrench out of necessity. Contrary to what the Loria-haters claim, since the new stadium became a reality he's spent big bucks locking-up Hanley and JJ for $109 million. That ain't chopped liver. Although he failed to get the idiotic Uggla to accept big bucks, we will now spend them better elsewhere. He's looking to sign Nolasco for 3 years and spent $18 million on 3 years of Buck because he had to. If he was willing to stick his neck out in '05 on Delgado with no stadium in prospect to try to keep winning, isn't there clearly a very high possibility he will now do so again, now that the new stadium is a certainty? Nobody should be surprised if the evil and hated Loria shocks us with one or more major deals or signings for more than one year as we go down the path to a new stadium and being a club that can spend a league-average $80 million or so a year in the future. I think it's pretty much a given at this point that Loria is looking to make a big splash next offseason. But because of his reputation, does he have to now OVERPAY to get anyone to come here. His reputation again took a hit this week, after Uggla said to the world, I'd rather play for anyone else than take that deal from the Marlins.

Loria is deadly serious.
He really loves baseball, and he has a lot of knowledge about his team. I can respect that. Maybe it would be better if he didn't know a lot about Baseball? He might spend more money instead of trying to micromanage? Maybe he'd spend more money if fans actually showed up to the stadium, on a consistent basis. I don't think they still make any real money, no matter how many show up, because of the onerous rent they pay & the lack of parking & concession money. They have to get into that new stadium. Once they get there, Loria has no excuses, and if he still is only spending around 60% of the league average, then we should all have a problem with him.

John Buck Signs Three Year Deal
I think they had to overpay somewhat to get a guy to come here number one This unfortunately will be our misfortune until this present ownership is gone. Too bad because this could be such a great franchise, but we will always have to beg people to come here until they are gone because they have such a horrible reputation among the players.

Marlins have interest in Justin Upton?
I wouldn't because Stanton has 2 more cheap years and is 2 years younger. Talent-wise, though, it's darn close from what I've seen. They are like two of the TOP 5 most naturally talented in all of baseball. To have both on the same team would be insane. Like having two Heywards. Well we could of had that, but we took Skipworth instead. :confused Think of it, even if Heywood wouldn't have signed with us, we would have gotten another draft pick to make up for it, and would have blocked the Braves from getting their prize possession.

Wow...1 draft. sh*t happens, no GM is perfect. He could have drafted Jayson Heyward to in 2007 and then our CF problem would have been solved. Instead we got Matt Dominguez who may or may not be able to hit MLB pitching. Our CF problem would be solved because we would have two RFers, even though they probably would not have drafted Stanton in the 2nd round of that draft so we'd be in precisely the same place except without Matt Dominguez? Even if Dominguez can't put up more than a .700 OPS, his glove is so good that he'll be a league average player. You really don't know what you're talking about. You hope his defense is that good. But right now you don't know jack about it yourself, because its a mystery. He has yet to field a ball as a MLBer. If he had drafted both Stanton and Heyward, he could convert one to a CF or let them compete and then the one that loses out for the MLB job gets traded for a boatload. He didn't come close to maximizing his value there.

The following year he drafted Matt Dominguez and Mike Stanton, so he is the best GM in the history of baseball. in 2007 he took Dominguez 12th and JP Arencibia went 21st to Toronto. Lets face it, Beinfest crystal ball needs to be polished because he is not seeing as well as a lot of other FO folks.

How sick of a lineup would it be to have Coghlan, Sanchez, Uggla, Stanton, Heyward and then Morrison lineup ? Even Halladay would hate to face that lineup.

Another draft bust for Beinfest. All Beinfest drafted team right now: C: Brett Hayes, Brad Davis 1B: Gaby Sanchez 2B: Chris Coghlan SS: Ozzie Martinez 3B: Matt Dominguez LF: Logan Morrison CF: Scott Cousins RF: Mike Stanton SP: JJ, Volstad, Sanabia, Sean West RP: Ceda, Marinez, whatever Guys we passed on in the 1st round : Yonder Alonso (drafted right after Skipworth), Gordan Beckham, Justin Smoak, Ike Davis, Daniel Schlereth (son of the former NFL all-pro and present ESPN analyst), and those are just the names of ones I know. Most have played in the majors already and are contributing to their franchises. Skipworth is going to be in AA ? And is a terrible fielder......and we need catching help. Yeah great work Beinfest. :banghead Just think any one of those guys would be trade bait for a pretty good catching prospect.

Official : Coghlan headed to 3rd
if i remember correctly isn't Coughlan a 2B, Morrison a 1B and Dominguez a 3B so we should let them take over their natural positions and trade Sanchez and (i really hate to say it) Uggla for as much "pitching, speed and defense" as possible. If Skipworth isn't ready then a catcher too. Uggla is the soul of this team but a silly contract will hurt this team as much or more than these stupid trades the FO has been making (Boni for Olsen and Hammer and Miggy to Det). When does the confidence run out on Beinfest?? He's becoming a deteriment to this team as well/ OMG  I feel for you bro. There are going to be some on this board that will want you hog-tied, quartered, flogged, burned at the stake and then what's left sent though a meat grinder for saying this. Don't you know its against the law around here not to worship the ground Beinfest walks on ? All Beinfest drafted team right now: C: Brett Hayes, Brad Davis 1B: Gaby Sanchez 2B: Chris Coghlan SS: Ozzie Martinez 3B: Matt Dominguez LF: Logan Morrison CF: Scott Cousins RF: Mike Stanton SP: JJ, Volstad, Sanabia, Sean West RP: Ceda, Marinez, whatever That team is maybe not the worst team in baseball, and that's just with the guys he's drafted. He's missed on the Cabrera trade and the Willingham trade, but as has been discussed hundreds of times, Willingham's value was really low. He's killed the minor league FA and non-roster invitees over the last few years with guys like Uggla, Cantu, Ross, and some of the relievers like Nelson, Waechter, and those types of guys. You've been hammering this home over the last few weeks, but there's really no evidence. He's got some good trades (destroyed the Cubs on the Pierre trade), some trades for good value for good value (Hanley), and he's missed some. but more than not, he's been a positive for this franchise. How many division titles have his draft picks won ? How many playoff games ? Sure seems the chief FO guys on other teams can do it. Schuerholtz in Atlanta is one great example of how to build a team. They finished behind the Marlins 2 years in a row, and completely changed their team and won a playoff spot this year.
