Posted November 15, 201014 yr Just wondering if Kyle Skipworth's nickname should be "Passed Ball"? He has 5 passed balls in the Arizona Fall League in 14 games. In at least 3 of those games he has been the DH, so Passed Ball has become an issue for him and must be a concern for the Marlins. He seems to be hitting O.K. at .273 but if he's going to catch big league pitchers his passed ball per game ratio needs to change. I think he had 19 passed balls at Greensboro this year.
November 16, 201014 yr Another draft bust for Beinfest. Can this guy play any other position ? Do we have a place for him ? I know I will regret it, but curiosity will kill me if I don't check out baseball-reference and see who we passed up in the 1st round to take this bum.
November 16, 201014 yr Another draft bust for Beinfest. All Beinfest drafted team right now: C: Brett Hayes, Brad Davis 1B: Gaby Sanchez 2B: Chris Coghlan SS: Ozzie Martinez 3B: Matt Dominguez LF: Logan Morrison CF: Scott Cousins RF: Mike Stanton SP: JJ, Volstad, Sanabia, Sean West RP: Ceda, Marinez, whatever

November 16, 201014 yr And next year that number will be at least 8, unless you believe all of them fall off. Because most of the last 4 years the team has been made up entirely of players he traded for or acquired independently. But all of the young guys breaking in or about the break in were drafted. That's very impressive. He's missed some first rounders recently, as most teams do, but he's been very successful at finding talent in a multitude of ways, which is a good skill to have when you can't pay top flight money for first rounders or free agents. Of course, you have never once engaged in a serious back and forth on any substantive topic, so I don't know why I'm wasting my time responding to you. You have built your entire online persona here on one liners and trolling. You don't have a substantive post in your record.

Most have played in the majors already and are contributing to their franchises. Skipworth is going to be in AA ? And is a terrible fielder......and we need catching help. Yeah great work Beinfest. :banghead Just think any one of those guys would be trade bait for a pretty good catching prospect.
November 16, 201014 yr Daniel Schlereth the middle reliever (and son of a ESPN Analyst Mark Schlereth)? :lol The MLB draft is largely a crapshoot. Judging a GM based on the results of one draft is just about the silliest thing you can do.
November 16, 201014 yr Wow...1 draft. sh*t happens, no GM is perfect. He could have drafted Jayson Heyward to in 2007 and then our CF problem would have been solved. Instead we got Matt Dominguez who may or may not be able to hit MLB pitching.
November 16, 201014 yr The following year he drafted Matt Dominguez and Mike Stanton, so he is the best GM in the history of baseball.
November 16, 201014 yr How sick of a lineup would it be to have Coghlan, Sanchez, Uggla, Stanton, Heyward and then Morrison lineup ? Even Halladay would hate to face that lineup.

Instead we got Matt Dominguez who may or may not be able to hit MLB pitching. Our CF problem would be solved because we would have two RFers, even though they probably would not have drafted Stanton in the 2nd round of that draft so we'd be in precisely the same place except without Matt Dominguez? Even if Dominguez can't put up more than a .700 OPS, his glove is so good that he'll be a league average player. You really don't know what you're talking about.
November 16, 201014 yr Also like 13 teams passed on Heyward. Just stop this crap. You have no sense of context. Every GM who passed on Albert Pujols for 30 rounds including the GM who eventually drafted him should be fired because they passed on the best hitter of a generation.
November 16, 201014 yr The following year he drafted Matt Dominguez and Mike Stanton, so he is the best GM in the history of baseball. in 2007 he took Dominguez 12th and JP Arencibia went 21st to Toronto. Lets face it, Beinfest crystal ball needs to be polished because he is not seeing as well as a lot of other FO folks.

But right now you don't know jack about it yourself, because its a mystery. He has yet to field a ball as a MLBer. If he had drafted both Stanton and Heyward, he could convert one to a CF or let them compete and then the one that loses out for the MLB job gets traded for a boatload. He didn't come close to maximizing his value there.

There's not going to be any convincing you. 20 other teams passed up on Arencibia. All of their GMs should be fired. You are just naming names. What about the f***ing 1500 other players that Beinfest did not draft with that pick? Do you give him credit for not drafting those guys, since you are just going to keep slaying him for every player who is good that he didn't pick. And if we didn't have Dominguez, we would have just as big an organizational hole at 3B as we currently do at C.
November 16, 201014 yr I thought someone here awhile ago said Heyward wasn't gonna sign if the Braves didn't draft him...

You've never seen Arencibia play, so you cannot say that he would have been a better draft pick than Dominguez, so your last post is completely invalidated by your completely flawed awful logic. Dominguez glove has been considered major league ready since high school by absolutely everyone. And you don't convert people long term from RF to CF. It's the other way. CF is much harder to play. Come on.
November 16, 201014 yr I don't think we've ever had a VIP troll. I also think we should send continuous spam emails to [email protected]. If you make your e-mail address your handle and then have the nerve to be a troll, you deserve it.
November 16, 201014 yr Arencibia? Just because his debut was fantastic doesn't automatically mean he's going to be a HOF catcher. He's nearly as unknown as Dominguez is.
November 16, 201014 yr Bob, just don't even bother. Some people refuse to change their opinions despite whatever arguments you may put up.
