March 15, 200422 yr who was in the final for the NIT last year and who won it? these things dont get much coverage and I was just wondering.... also, do the schools get money for a NIT championship?

March 16, 200422 yr I don't think the NCAA champions get any real money. More likely their conference as they already get a payout for every member that gets in. The NIT is private though. So who knows.
March 16, 200422 yr St. John's beat Georgetown 70-67 in last years NIT finals. Minnesota and Texas Tech also made the trip to N.Y. for the NIT Final Four. Tex.Tech got 3rd. They don't get much money at all, in fact some times schools probably even lose money. There have been schools that have declined NIT invites because it wasn't worth it...money-wise and lack of interest....by teams and their fans. They get money for every game but expenses can be high also.
