March 22, 200422 yr JUPITER, Fla. -- Juan Pierre will miss just a few days of workouts because of a dislocated right pinkie finger. Pierre was examined by team hand specialist Dr. Brian Fingado on Monday, and the Florida Marlins said their center field will miss no more than five days of workouts. If tests had revealed ligament damage or a more serious injury, Pierre could have been sidelined for six weeks or more. "I should be good to go for opening day," Pierre said. He led the majors with 65 stolen bases last season for the World Series champions. Pierre was hurt Sunday while sliding headfirst on a steal attempt in a spring training game against the New York Mets. Pierre has been cleared to continue conditioning, and will be able to participate in all drills once the swelling subsides and he regains a full range of motion. "I can still run and do the bike. ... I'm just going to take it easy so I'll be ready for opening day," Pierre said. "I've got to fight my feelings here and not try to do too much in spring training so I can be ready for the season." Pierre hit .305 and had a career-high 204 hits last season for the Marlins, playing in all 162 games. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1765521
