April 3, 200422 yr 04/02/2004 11:25 AM ET Local humane societies sell tickets for May 20 Marlins Bark at the Park MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins, The Humane Society of Greater Miami and The Humane Society of Broward County announced today that they will again collaborate on Bark at the Park, giving fans a chance to bring their dogs to a Marlins game and support two local Humane Societies. This year's Bark at the Park will take place on Thursday, May 20th, when the Marlins host the Houston Astros at 7:05 pm. The Humane Society of Greater Miami and The Humane Society of Broward County are currently selling tickets for the event, with all proceeds from the sale of canine tickets going directly to the two Humane Societies. Kathy Tricomi, Development Director at the Humane Society of Broward County said of the annual event, "Bark at the Park with the Florida Marlins is one of our more popular events that our supporters and their dogs can attend. There is nothing like hanging out with your dog and watching the World Series Champions. We look forward to the event each year." Melanie Otero, Public Relations Director at the Humane Society of Greater Miami was also enthusiastic, "Humane Society of Greater Miami supporters love this event! What better way to spend time with the entire family -- both two-legged and four-legged -- than to come out to ProPlayer Stadium to see the World Champion Marlins?" Matt Britten, Promotions Manager from the Florida Marlins, added, "The attendance has grown each year for Bark at the Park, and we're expecting another great day this year. We're proud to help raise dollars for the Humane Society of Broward County and the Humane Society of Greater Miami, and also provide Marlins fans with a unique opportunity to spend some quality time with their friends, families, and dogs at the ballpark. Besides, dogs love baseball too." A unique addition to this year's event will be The Late Show with David Letterman. The Late Show will hold "Stupid Pet Trick" tryouts at the May 20th game. Fans interested in registering their dog to perform unique and safe tricks outside Pro Player Stadium's Gate G should call 1.888.738.8745 (1.888.PET.TRIK). Tickets for the evening are $12 for adults, $6 for dogs and $6 for kids. Fans can buy tickets from the Humane Society of Greater Miami by calling 305.696.0800 (x132) or from the Humane Society of Broward County by calling 954.266.6818.
April 3, 200422 yr Anyone going to this? I was planning to take my doggy! Is it correct that since the adult ticket is $12.00.. that means the only seats available is upper deck? I appreciate any information! Thanks
April 3, 200422 yr Hmm, interesting move putting Bark at the Park on Cuban Independence Day Does Cuban Independence Day honestly mean anything anyway. Its a worse situation now than it ever was under Spain. When they overthrow Castro and get a government that isn't a dictatorship then you can seriously celebrate Cuban Independence day.

It was just a comment in passing. Yes it does mean something, though not as much as it will later on. And besides, the point was more to the fact that the Marlins are doing something on the Independence Day of all the major Latin American countries, and it is interesting that Bark at the Park went on one of those independence days.

OK, I thought you were insinuating that it was an insult to the day itself.
April 3, 200422 yr back to the topic: does anyone knoe if it is just a designated area where dogs are allowed? I mean it says all dog owners. u should be able to sit whereever you want.. it is a night game so maybe not as hot
April 3, 200422 yr oh ok.. have you ever gone to that event? Do alot of people take their dogs? I thought that dogs should get in free.. but if its for the humane society than its good.. also do they give anything special for the dogs? Thanks!
April 4, 200422 yr Personally I have never participated in the actual event as I don't own a dog....(passed away in '98), but I've been there for some of the games...There's a good amount of people that take there dogs...like a couple hundred.....It was never really pumped up until now...this is the earliest it has ever been promoted...
