April 23, 200422 yr Anyone see Mikey's numbers against lefties this year? WOW! AB 11 H 8 HR 3 RBI 6 TB 17 BB 1 OBP .750 SLG. 1.545 AVG .727 :stare Two things jump out at me: low walks and incredible slg.%. He is obviously seeing the ball well, but most surprising is that the lefties are challenging him. Look at the low walk total! They are testing him and he is roping it! It will be interesting to see how lefties pitch him from this point on. :mischief2
April 23, 200422 yr What I think is interesting is that before last year, Lowell had a reverse platoon advantage - he handled right-handed pitchers better than lefties. He turned that around last year and is continuing this year. His big jump in power last year, compared to 2002, was off of left-handed pitching. He stayed consistent from 2002 to 2003 vs. righties. The way he's handling lefties this year may indicate that 30+ HR power is a new plateau for Lowell, rather than last year being a HR fluke.
