May 30, 200323 yr Atlanta (36-17) at NY Mets (24-29) 7:10 pm EDT FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- Longtime teammates and likely future Hall of Famers Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine oppose each other on Friday when the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets commence a three-game series at Shea Stadium. The righthanded Maddux (3-5, 4.99 ERA) and the lefthanded Glavine (5-4, 4.05) were teammates in Atlanta from 1993-2002 and led the team to National League East titles every year, including a World Series title in 1995. But Glavine signed with New York as a free agent on December 9, leaving the team he had pitched for his first 16 years in the league. He was rocked in his first game against his former team on Saturday, 10-4, surrendering six runs and eight hits in just 3 1/3 innings. He has been bothered by a blister beneath the nail on his left index finger but is expected to pitch on Friday. Maddux did not factor in the Braves' 3-1 win over the Mets on Sunday, despite yielding just three hits in seven scoreless innings. Maddux, who went 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in three games against the Mets last year, is 29-16 with a 3.39 ERA in 55 career games against them. Atlanta has won four of five, including a 15-3 rout of Cincinnati on Wednesday in the rubber contest of their three-game series. Rafael Furcal, Mark DeRosa and Gary Sheffield opened the game with consecutive home runs - only the second time in history it had been accomplished - and Javy Lopez added a two-run homer in the frame. The Mets took two of three from Philadelphia at Veterans Stadium, including a 5-0 triumph on Thursday.
