Posted October 3, 200420 yr everyone seems to forget that finishing over .500 with the many issues we had this year was a major accomplishment. we had no real catcher or bullpen till late in the season (with the exception of benitez), had issues with beckett's injuries and burnett not playing a full year. when we went on a roll, multiple hurricanes killed us, but we still hung in to finish above .500 bravo marlins, its not a world series, but its still a year to be proud of. burnett for cy young in 05!!!
October 3, 200420 yr I'm not disappointed, but going from World Series Champs to out of the playoffs, really isn't anything to celebrate :confused
October 3, 200420 yr Author celebrate the team not being completely dismantled ala 1998 and instead playing their hearts out... finishing over .500 is a great accomplishment. 2 world series in 11 years and you all ask for more. ridiculous.
October 3, 200420 yr Not a successful season. But still 2 straight winning years is pretty kewl. :cool

October 3, 200420 yr 2 world series in 11 years and you all ask for more. ridiculous. 580684[/snapback] The Nerve of those a**holes who expect World Series winning teams to contend for their division the next season. They know nothing about baseball, WS winning teams are expected to place third in their division next year.
October 3, 200420 yr The Marlins did contend for the division title until pitching tanked (Beckett went down, Penny in the summer heat, Tejerrible) and the Braves went on a roll. At the time Frances hit the Marlins were 6 back of the Braves with 6 games left to play with them. I'd say it was a successful season although I'm disappointed at the result. It could have been better.

This season is a disappointment by some standards, but you can't really complain after a World Series and the first back to back winning seasons in franchise history.

Dang, we will lose some! I'm sure they were disappointed after last season.

October 4, 200420 yr screw you all who think the marlins had a bad year, try losing a gold glove first baseman, gold glove hall of fame catcher, and a bunch of speed, this was a good season, f***in francis ruined us. we were hot and rolling then hurricane season had to ruin our reign of champions. hey we r still the world champs right now, not until october 20 sometin r we a normal team again
October 4, 200420 yr Author i didnt start this thread as an argument so maybe it should be closed, and its my fault for the argument too... but point is yeah everyone woulda loved for playoffs, but considering everything that happened, im pleased with our record.
