Daryle Ward

Featured Replies

Miami Herald "Neither club would discuss the conversations, but the Marlins are known to be looking for a left-handed bat and bullpen help, and Pittsburgh might be willing to part with some of its pitchers as well as slugging first baseman Daryle Ward, a left-handed hitter who doesn't strike out much and is eligible for salary arbitration."

Or Rob Mackowiak.

Good news. Ward told the Pirates that wanted more than a backup role. He's a decent lefty slugger who has been tearing up AAA. Probably not any more than a platoon firstbaseman although he has played the outfield.

Now if only we can sign Midre Cummings and invite him to spring training. He'd be a good pickup.
