Mark Redman could barely blacken your eye with a fastball, but he changes speeds well. He's pitching like Jamie Moyer; he probably threw 40-50 changeups when I saw him recently and his changeup is a good one. He hides his arm well and he's got good deception. He has teams guessing wrong and there are a lot of lineups out there that have trouble with soft-tossers. I know that he's trying to take on a leadership role with some of the younger Marlins pitchers.

I'm not sure if Pudge Rodriguez is doing any better handling a staff. It looks like he's still calling too many fastballs with guys on base so he can throw runners out. But he's hitting the ball well, better than last year. The biggest thing with him is using the whole field. He stays inside the ball well. I think there was a time in Texas where he was trying to hit too many homers and that gets him in trouble. He knows that (Pro Player) is a tough place to hit balls out, so I think he's concentrating on just hitting the ball hard, and it's helped him.

I had something very close to that first paragraph said at the end of BBTN today, except it was added in about McKeon lighting a fire with the club and the like. Hey its the same stuff repeated over and over but at least its good pub!
