DurableTear
Credit: ESPN.com Sunday, March 9 Kearns to have minor elbow surgery ESPN.com news services SARASOTA, Fla. -- Cincinnati Reds outfielder Austin Kearns will have surgery to remove bone chips from his left elbow Monday and is expected to miss seven-to-10 days. An MRI exam Sunday found chips in Kearns' non-throwing elbow. "It's something I think they can fix pretty easily. I think he should be on time to start the season,'' general manager Jim Bowden said. The Reds open the year in their new Great American Ball Park on March 31. Kearns hit .315 with 15 home runs and 56 RBI in 107 games last season. Originally, the surgery was tentatively scheduled for Thursday, but Bowden insisted that it be moved up.
