He was picked by the Mets as the 214th overall selection in Tuesday's seventh round of the Major League Baseball first-year player draft. The Mets will pay Stegall more than $107,000 for signing with the organization. The contract also includes money for college should Stegall decide to continue his education. Stegall said he planned to leave Greenwood on Sunday for Port Lucie, Fla., where he will join a Mets' affiliate that plays in high Class A.
