Posted March 27, 200322 yr What's the main purpose of this conflict? I know we talk about liberating the Iraqi people, but what is the root cause behind it? Iraq is a soverign nation. The United States helped to put Saddam in power some 20 years ago. We even provided him with many of the weapons of mass destruction. In the 80s, the US had some questionable policies supporting numerous regimes around the world in a quest for the US to get their way in world affairs, by providing weapons, training, and the means to win their conflicts by any means necessary. I blame Reagan for this. Since Dubya is a product of the Reagan times, the associations are all there. So there is liberation of Iraq. There is the removal of Saddam from power. There is oil. But is the real reason one of these specifically, are there other reasons? Is it a combination of all of these reasons? And by the way the Axis of Evil....Iraq, Iran and North Korea: do you know why North Korea was included? Answer: So that hte US would not be percieved as anit-Muslim. Chew on that.
March 27, 200322 yr Wouldn't North Korea be included because of their continued Nuclear program? That's what I believe anyway.
March 27, 200322 yr Author Why North Korea? Why not Pakistan? Why not Syria? Why not Libya? But thats not really the meat of the question....it all goes back to why the hell are we even at War with Iraq?
March 30, 200322 yr They say that the main focus of this campaighn is to get rid of sadam. Some say its for the oil and then there is the point of view of the war is just becuase daddy started it. Personally I am split as on the cause of the war but all these mistakes of killing civilans have to stop. Unacceptable for a capign they boasted would have few killed and would only bomb military targets.
