July 18, 200619 yr 07/18/2006 12:42 AM ET Jamestown triples up Aberdeen Jammers turn triple play, then use two three-baggers to win in 12th By Eric Justic / Special to MLB.com It was a triple play in more ways than one for Jamestown on Monday. The Jammers turned a triple play to stifle the IronBirds' rally in the 11th inning, then used two triples in the ensuing frame to take a 7-4 victory at Ripken Stadium. With the score tied in the 11th, 4-4, Aberdeen's Miguel Abreu tripled, Brandon Tripp was hit by a pitch and Christopher Vinyard was intentionally walked. Jamestown kept the winning run from scoring with the sixth triple play in the Minors this season and the first since the International League's Toledo Mud Hens did it on June 26. Corey Shafer hit a ground ball to shortstop Justin Webb, who fired the ball home to nab Abreu. Catcher Chris Hatcher tossed to first to double up Shafer. First baseman Nathan Messner relayed the throw to third baseman Jacob Blackwood, who tagged a scrambling Tripp between second and third. Jamestown (14-11) then put up a three-spot in the ensuing frame. Webb led off the 12th with a triple and Scott Cousins was hit by a pitch. Spike McDougall followed with a two-run triple and scored when Blackwood hit a fielder's choice to second. Jammers reliever Donald Czyz (1-0) allowed one hit with two walks over the final two scoreless frames. IronBirds reliever Brett Bordes (1-1) took the loss by giving up three runs on four hits in three innings. Pedro Beato made his first professional start for Aberdeen (16-10) and was charged with three unearned runs in five innings.
