Bradcore
Opening on June 7, 1990, the facility was a working studio where many Nickelodeon shows were produced. It consisted of Soundstages 18 and 19, along with a building between them housing both Nickelodeon production offices and a studio tour for Universal Orlando guests. Over 2,000 episodes of original programming were shot at Nickelodeon Studios while it was in operation. The studio tour closed in 2001 after staffing cuts were made. The Game Lab portion of the tour would continue to run until Nickelodeon Studios closed. In 2003, Game Lab was rennovated, removing access to a hallway that was part of the walking tour. And in 2004, the exterior of Nickelodeon Studios was refurbished with a new color scheme. The facility closed on April 30, 2005, after Nickelodeon had gradually moved its production facilities to Burbank, California, and New York City. The final program filmed at Nickelodeon Studios was Nick SPLAT! on August 17, 2004. The Slime Geyser in front of Soundstage 18 was removed in May 2005. The trademark "Nickelodeon" sign above the facility was removed in January 2006. A time capsule buried by the network in 1992 in front of Soundstage 18 was removed in mid-August, 2006 and was replaced with a concrete slab. The Time Capsule contained items deemed to be important to the children of 1992 as voted upon by Nickelodeon viewers, and included such items as a new Nintendo GameBoy, a then-current issue of "Nickelodeon Magazine" and other various toys, many of which were Nick-related. The time capsule was scheduled to be opened on April 30, 2042, 50 years after it was buried. Soundstages 18 and 19 are currently available for rental through the USF Production Group. The building between the two soundstages has been converted to offices for Universal Orlando and is currently being occupied by Pink Sneakers Productions. The facility is currently being rennovated to house an attraction featuring the Blue Man Group that will open in June 2007. well, as most of us know.. univeral's Nickelodeon studios in orlando has been closed for a while and in 1992 a special episode was held to bury a time capsule with old nickelodeon toys as a gift to kids i the future and it wasn't to be opened until the year 2042... I say in 2042 we all meet up and help open it.. right? Right? nope! IT IS GONE!! here is a pic of what it used to be: http://www.answers.com/topic/nickelodeon-studios http://www.micechat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34582
MarlinatPenn
Wow, I remember Mike O'Malley burying that thing. I remember a video of Home Alone was in it. Damn, this sucks. That place was shown after so many of my favorite shows growing up. And the geyser, ugh. I'm taking this too hard, lol.
