October 15, 200322 yr Althought I'm a rabid fish fan, many of you know that I follow the Tigers (My hometown team). Being an avid Tigers fan (ties noose around own neck) I thought I'd mention some similarities b/t the 1968 World Champs' victory over the Cards and the 2003 Fish. 1) The Cards had one of the most dominant pitchers of the era, a fireballing strikeout artist who was practically unbeatable on the mound (Bob Gibson) 2) The Tigers went down three games to one 3) The Tigers were forced to change around starters in both the infield and outfield to accomodate the return to the line-up of their all-star, who was coming off a broken arm that was caused by a HBP and kept him out for the last 6 weeks of the season (Al Kaline) 4) The Tigers came storming back from the 3-1 deficit 5) The tigers won game 7, on the road, against Gibson, behind a sterling pitching perforomce by their #2 pitcher (Lolitch) who was overshadowed the whole year by a 30 game winning phenom 6) And the spookiest of all the coincidences..... Jose Feliciano sung the National anthem at home in Tigers Stadium... The same Jose Feliciano that sung the National anthem for the Marlins at game 5 in Pro Robbie. Spooky...Very spooky. Either that or I'm just trying to kill time until 8:18 (EST).
