Question: injured pitchers

Featured Replies

when are these pitchers expected to return to the club next season?

sanchez

jose garcia - main one i want to get an update on because i'm just being lazy with the others and not doing a small amount of digging for the info

jj - possibly out whole year?

nolasco - possible when the season opens?

Nolasco is going to the AFL I think

Garcia should be fine by ST but he's going to need a bunch of innings in the minors anyway

no clue on Anibal or JJ

JJ shouldn't be in the picture for next season. Anibal, if all goes well, could be ready for action by June. He's a real wild-card, though. If you go by the Pedro Martinez precedent, we will see him next year, likely before August.

I don't know if I was imagining this, but didn't Beinfest indicate yesterday while in the booth with Rich and Tommy that Anibal could be ready by the beginning of next season, or at least that he would be available next season? Even if I wasn't imagining it, it could be that he was just being overly optimistic.

ok thanks. garcia is going to need more innings in the minors because he hasnt pitched this entire year (correct me if i am wrong) and he still could have used more time in the minors this season but the way this organization seems to bring up pitchers early i would have expected him in the bullpen at the start of the season if he had been healthy

The injury he had has a 6-8 month recovery time to be considered healed. He had the surgery at the end of May, so he could be "healthy" by the start of Spring Training, but you have to figure that the expected muscle atrophy to his throwing shoulder won't allow his arm to be in game-shape by then.

He could also be an extraordinarily fast healer, so you never know.
