  1. i would take hanley over rollins but utley over uggla
  2. i wouldnt recommend buying this it may be thin and look nice but theres far cheaper options that are just as good for what you would be using this for. people need to understand that a 1.6 with 80gig standard drive is going to be so slow it won't be worth using. The reason the premium jumps in price is because it is what you need. The point of the ultraportables is to have long battery life and to be sleek. While it has almost 2 more inches in screensize than the vaio, it will be pointless unless you have the premium. the SSD drive is made for safer use, more dependable use, longer battery life, and faster use. add the specs between a macbook and macbook air MacBook Air (13.3" screen)> - $1799 Height: 0.16(corners) - 0.76 inch(base) Width: 12.8 inches Depth: 8.94 inches Weight: 3.0 pounds MacBook (13.3" screen) - $1099 Height: 1.08 inches Width: 12.78 inches Depth: 8.92 inches Weight: 5.0 pounds 2 pounds and thats about it. It really isnt as amazing as they make it seem. im not sure why you quoted me you seem to be supporting me i bought an asus 4g eee pc for using around campus because carrying around a fullsize laptop gets to be a pain. it may be slower and not have a screen almost half the size as the macbook air but it also cost me less than a forth of the price, is a pound lighter and seems less likely to break
  3. I understand why a lot of people here are of the belief that bringing in as many players as you can roundup for sping training is a good thing and to a degree I don't disagree but the reality is there is only going to be so much playing time, so much coaching and evaluation time, and at some point all these bodies become counter-productive for the team and for the players themselves. I guarantee you there will be in every spring training camp players who are fully major league capable who are going to be completely overlooked only because of time constraints and the physics of coaches and evaluators not being able to be in two places at once. I think the Marlins are getting dangerously close to point which is not to say there isn't room for another quality competitor at third or even another player or two generally, but my guess we're nearly full up and ought to not be inviting every Chris Shelton (folks, I just using him because he's out there, I have no axe to grind I promise) into camp at this point in our recruiting. that is true but bringing in players that could potentially improve the big club can never be viewed as a bad thing. it's not like this guy has done nothing at the major league level and we're hoping he makes something happen this year. now if we startbringing in guys like abercrombie who are all tools and showed nothing in there career we have a problem
  4. not big news, it's not like he wasn't coming back or he was going to get a absurd amount in arby

  6. Damnit I have a secret fantasy that Anibal would be our starter on openning day and that he throws another no-no on his first start after the injury yes but thats just a dream he wasnt exactly suppose to be ready opening day anyway
  7. if hes willing to take a minor league contract we have got nothing to lose

    Kotsay to the Braves

shame kotsay(one of my favorite players) will be playing for the braves(one of the teams i hate the most)
  9. Gregg has earned it for now, Lindstrom possibly in the future. BTW what's the status on Owens? I thought for a time last year he would be the closer for awile. i believe a may return maybe june. theres no need for him to be rushed. theres plenty of good arms in the bullpen at the moment
  10. lets see if olsen is decent in july and mitre is doing horrible, who wants to keep olsen and lynch mitre Care for a wager? no i was just saying that the majority of people hate the guy whos not winning and love the guy who is. look back to before this past season who wanted to give mitre a spot on the team let alone in the rotation and who wanted to trade olsen?
  11. gregg should start off as closer for the marlins and be traded midseason to another team and one of the power arms takes over
  12. lets see if olsen is decent in july and mitre is doing horrible, who wants to keep olsen and lynch mitre
  13. "We had a lot of conversations a week and a half ago," McPherson said. "They're one of the top three or four teams on my list. They seemed to have a lot of concern about my health and we went in opposite directions. I don't know if they're interested any more." McPherson said he told the Marlins a week and a half ago he was leaning in another direction. That scenario fell through this week and McPherson is hoping to re-engage some other clubs, including the Marlins if they haven't already ruled him out. "They signed Castillo after we talked [last]," he said. "Right now, I don't know where I stand with those guys." Ya but at least he is back interested in the club
  14. any move on olsen i see happens midseason or next offseason he is the only start that has actually logged innings at the major league level and his value can only go up. (he also does not make any money) even if no teams are interested when the time comes to trade olsen right now he is needed to protect younger arms from being blown out.
  15. I'd love bringing in both as long as Cantu is coming in on minor-league deal. No need for him AND Castillo if (and when) McPhearson wins the starting job. alfredo trade possibility, have him start center to give maybin more time. signing both would be a good thing just don't know if mcphearson would sign if cantu was already signed. i would see him with more teams interested than cantu
  16. the fact he has not posted a ops over .650 in the majors since 03 makes me say pass. signing some other options may be nice but something with a little more upside than phillips
  17. Moehler was good in his time with the Marlins... I remember a month or two where he was actually probably the best starter we had.. No, I don't have any stats to back that up, but I do remember he had a good stretch where he was averaging around 7 innings and simply keeping the team in the game... But after I saw what he looked like with Houston, I don't think he's the same pitcher anymore. I wouldn't mind bringing him back and giving him a shot in Spring Training, but the expectation shouldn't be that he is coming in as our #3 starter or anything... As for Opening Day, I'd give the nod to Olsen, assuming his Spring numbers back it up... and I'd do this for a couple of reasons.. 1 - Miller is still very young and might feel too much pressure coming in and expected to be the ace... 2 - Olsen has shown some great promise at times. All he needs is to mature a little and he's capable of putting up some really good numbers.. But I think it'd be a slap in the face to him if some rookie with little to no MLB experience comes in and takes the nod over him. Your argument for olsen as the opening day starter makes sense on paper, but the one major factor is going to be spring training. Regardless of Olsen's comments about how he wants to "step up and be the ace" and regardless of his experience in the big leagues, it should and will come down to a battle between the best starters in ST to win the opening day spot. The most likely candidates will be Olsen, Miller and Mitre and their chances of winning the spot will depend (hopefully) entirely on their performances and not on their experience. If Miller is not ready to become an ace then it will show in his numbers and we'll give it to Olsen or Mitre. It comes down to who can give us the best chance to win the first game of the season and not who looks good on paper or who "deserves" the spot. since olsen and mitre could be traded off before opening day 2009 and miller will be here and he has a promising future, i can see him being the starter to get people recognizing him asap so he can be marketed. that is as long as he puts in decent work in spring training
  18. stinks. .208 AVG/.269 OBP/.278 SLG/547 OPS/1 homer/ 12 RBI in 144 AB No thanks wow you are right he does stink sorry I even mentioned him coming up with us. Besides they did let him go For our catcher, I don't really care as much about his offense than how he will be able to handle our pitchers and their pitches. If he can save our arms and call a game, I say sign him. we have catchers that can handle our pitchers I mean handle them Well. If treanor were the answer We wouldn't have signed Rabelo. We don't really know how Rabelo is gonna turn out. So, If Phillips could do a better job than those two, I wouldn't mind signing him. rabelo was not signed he was traded for. if we wanted a catcher that is going to hit under .200 and handles pitchers well couldnt we bring up brett hayes. the club has more than enough catchers that are good defensively, they are searching for someone who might help the pitchers out by adding on runs rather than just being a solid defender

  20. anyone look at the prior stats in 2006 he started 9 games and only kept the other team to 4 or less runs 4 times. It's hard to pitch well when you have shoulder tendinitis. I have faith in Dr Andrews (well, kinda, compared to most other doctors) and 2007 was the first time he met with Andrews, who found structural damage that the cubs previously didn't know about. I think he'll be fine in 2007 by that I am sure you mean 2008? but still a high injury risk given a guaranteed contract for over $1 million he would be the second highest paid pitcher behind gregg if he is still here
  21. Here's a comp block for all you folk. This is just an example of a font block. It's what creative agencies use as a starting point. View it as you will. How about that bottom row? Then we can have "Back to the 70s" night, every night! Seriously though, I don't want to see too many changes to the current uniform, except bring back the teal lettering! It will go great with the teal seats in our new ballpark! they were planning on sticking with orange seats because its not a marlins game unless there are a ton of orange seats open
  22. anyone look at the prior stats in 2006 he started 9 games and only kept the other team to 4 or less runs 4 times. i couldn't find any indication he's pitched in game situations since spring training 2007 where he wasnt effective. unless its a minor league contract which it won't be i would pass the guy is a high injury risk and he hasnt been effective in the past 2 years in the small amount of time he has been healthy
  23. ALL season ticket holders get this? Ahhhh son of a crap!!! My season tickets were a christmas gift from my now ex-girlfriend...i guess the gift is being delivered to her house and not mine... ...shouldn't have burned those bridges... ...damn :| Lol, it's just a stupid folder. hey, he could have gotten game worn cabs underwear
  24. loria could just refuse to put names on the jerseys this year and keep reusing the same unis as long as he owns the team to save money prob something like mojos
  25. only way i see arod wearing teal is if he owned the team
