Rumor: Marlins want Moehler back?

Featured Replies

It is being said that the Marlins really want Moehler back as their veteran starter.

I really think they should bring him back

He sucks. Bring back Livan. Livan can get us deep into games and keep the bullpen fresh.

Livan >>>>> Moehler

That would be really sad if Moehler is our Opening Day starter.

Don't we have anybody else to throw batting practice? Actually, all things considered, he might not be a bad pickup, considering the state of our rotation and the fact that we will have a number of guys who are hopefully ready to replace him by midseason, he wouldn't be a bad stopgap.

Brian Moehler brings nothing to any team , he has no use or place on this team , he was a mediocre at best 5 inning pitcher several years ago there is NO POINT and more importantly NO GOOD REASON to bring him back

Livan >>>>> Moehler

wouldn't be surprised if Livan goes for over 5m and Moehler for under 500k

in other words, we're f***ed.

That would be really sad if Moehler is our Opening Day starter.

We have Miller, and Olsen! Que pasa papa? Are you kidding me? That'll never happen!

Please don't refer to me as papa ever again.

By whom?

Name the source or provide a link; otherwise, this is to be considered only a rumor.

I'm sorry, where did you read this? Please tell me it wasn't MLBTR, please.

The last mention of the Marlins and Moehler in the same sentence I can find was almost three weeks ago in a passing comment by Frisaro with a number of other pitchers. Not to mention he pitched 100% in relief for the Astros last season, not starting a single game (42 APs, 59 inn, 0 starts). About the last place we need pitching help it would appear is the bullpen so draw your own conclusions.

I can think of a number of pitchers I'd try before him.

I heard two fats guys in the restroom saying it after eatting chilli

moehler's pitching and those sounds are about the same

This makes me reprise my personal favorite thought on trades/acquisition talk.

They're like farts......first they stink, then they go away.

We should have just kept Willis. He would have filled the role as inning eater, and he had a good chance, IMO, of being worth a lot more in July than what we got for him a few weeks ago, which was nothing.

I agree very much with your last sentence.

What exactly did we get for Willis?

I mean seriously break the trade down. Did we get Maybin and 2 prospects for Cabrera? I mean c'mon.

I may be talking out of my a** here but I'd really like one of the more informed posters to break this trade down again for me.

That guy sucks! To think that the club would be interested in Moehler is an insult to the fans. He was piggy-backed all year in 2006, and he has only gotten older. :thumbdown

The only way I would ever consider bringing Moehler back is in a long relief role and NOT as a starter. A soft-tossing, 5 inning geezer is not the type of veteran pitcher we need to go along with the young guys.

And Moehler on opening day? don't think so :thumbdown

Miller, provided his ST goes well, should be the opening day starter. I don't want to see Olsen and his ERA of 6 out there on opening day.
