It sounds like Lowe was hoping the Yankees would come through with a big offer, but there's very little chance of that now. The Red Sox aren't believed to have any interest in going past three years with him, while the Mets will probably be willing to sign him for four. He'll probably get $15 million-$16 million per year. Rotoworld good fit for the Mets I think. Derek Lowe has had a solid career, and only a year younger than Pettite (another FA option) he seems much younger and like he has many more years. He has also been solid in post season play. I think we will see the Sox/Mets in this sweepstakes.
December 24, 200817 yr i think he'll end up signing with the sox. now that they've lost out on teixeira the red sox could use some stability in the back of the rotation especially since the yankees pitching has improved tremendously. Beckett/Matsuzaka/Lester/Lowe/Wakefield would be a nice starting rotation

December 24, 200817 yr Author Update 12/24 per Rotoworld The Boston Globe reports that the Mets "appear to be closing in on a deal for" Derek Lowe. According to the newspaper, the deal is expected to be $14-16 million per season for either four years or three years with a fourth-year option.
