Atlanta jumps into Pettitte sweepstakes

Featured Replies

Per ESPN, the Braves have offered Andy Pettitte a 3 year 40 million dollar contract.

ugg, I don't want to see this guy on our division.

I won't hate the Boss if he outbid everyone on this.

i usually get pissed when a division rival picks up a superstar (e.g. phils w/ thome), but it wouldn't bother me at all if the braves signed pettitte.

sure, he's good, but 3 yr/ $40mil is WAY too much for a guy who is consistently in the range of about a 4.00 ERA--whether he's a workhorse or not. i don't see this lefty doing much damage at all to us, and i can't imagine it being worthwhile for the braves to splurge on him.

exactly, but they spent 15 million for maddux to do that, and mike hampton performed too well, so the braves gotta do something to make sure they don't make past the NLCS.
