Paul Quantrill is a Yankee

The Yankees added to their collection of free-agent relief pitchers, agreeing Wednesday with right-hander Paul Quantrill on a two-year deal worth $6.8 million, ESPN's Peter Gammons reports.

3.4 million a year is a steep price, but at least it wasn't the sick amount we paid for Gordon. Quantrill is one of the top relievers in the game, Gordon just has 91 Ks...strikeouts are nice, but they are only a means to getting an out.

The Yankees will now almost indefinitely trade away one of our good cheap signings, Chris Hammond :(

We might get Heredia for a good price though, but sadly Torre has it in for our lefty specialist in AAA Randy Choate, and it appears they have converted him to a starter and he will never see the light of day again.

the rich keep getting richer So the rumor is true... Good luck to dodgers bullpen LOL now they have is Shuey (it makes me wonder if they'll sign a FA relieve pitcher). BTW, Ramp: What is with your avatar? You said before that Marlins aren't gonna sign Lopez. :mischief2 :shifty :whistle

And Wilson Alvarez and Edwin Jackson, whoever doesn't make the rotation, can provide adequate relief. There was no way the Dodgers could match the Yankee's price, not in a year when they're trying to get their horrendous payroll under control.

Mota's season was like Mo Rivera in 96, he's unbelievable. I thought he should of had cy young award votes.

if he can stay clear of piazza, he might have another good season (that being alive is a predicate to success)
