January 16, 200422 yr Cubs name Grady Little scouting consultant CHICAGO (Ticker) - Grady Little is going from one cursed franchise to another. Fired as manager of the Boston Red Sox, Little on Thursday was hired by the Chicago Cubs as a scouting consultant and assistant to general manager Jim Hendry. Little, 54, averaged 94 wins in his two seasons as Boston manager, leading the Red Sox to a wild card berth and a victory over the Oakland Athletics in the American League Division Series last season. However, Boston lost an epic seven-game series to the New York Yankees in the ALCS and Little was criticized by Red Sox fans for leaving Pedro Martinez in too long in Game Seven. The Yankees rallied from a 5-2 deficit and won the series on Aaron Boone's home run in the 11th inning. The Cubs also had their share of postseason heartbreak, squandering a 3-1 series lead to the Florida Marlins in the NLCS. The Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908 and the Red Sox have not won one since 1918. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=cubs...ov=st&type=lgns
