Zoinks! I surely didn't want to upset so many of you folks. And I definitely didn't want people attacking each other personally. As for me and my comments about going to far fewer games, I should re-phrase and say that I just know that I wouldn't be able to make it to the games. I really don't like getting to the game into the 2nd or 3rd inning and getting there after work in time for the first pitch would be next to impossible. This comment wasn't about choosing not go, just that I probably couldn't. As for the rest of my sentiment, it is a cross between my opinion having gone to the Orange Bowl and the opinions of people I know.
The location may not be in a high crime neighborhood, but the perception is that it is. This will keep people away. That?s just a fact ? it is an unfortunate one and not one I agree with - but it is a fact. The location will also keep people from Broward and PB (and even some from Dade) away ? due to distance, traffic, and parking.
Let me also say that I?m thrilled to have the Marlins here. I?ve been a fan since day one and I certainly want them to stay at any cost. We can?t have everything, but we can hope for the best. The OB isn?t the best and I would hate to have to settle. Putting a new Marlins stadium at the OB site, is settling.
