Higginson for Encarnacion?
There's something more to this than I know about. The Tigers already have way too many OF's, hence the reason why they're trying to trade Higgy in the first place. I thought that the CF position was pretty much set with Monroe having a great spring and proving that he can play the position efficiently. Why would the Tigers need to trade one outfielder for another outfielder? 723394[/snapback] Reports this am on XM radio that the Tigers and Mets are talking about Rhondel White now..

Bobby Higginson deal
The major frustration with him is that he never lived up to his big contract Over 8 milllion this year, and tends to spout off against management publicly (some deserved) and even Dombrowski, after the Weaver trade example, claiming it was personal. He was healthy last year for the first time in a few years, and just couldnt do it. He takes a lot of pitches trying to walk, he walked 70 times, but got rung up 84 times. There was a sentiment among certain people that 28 year old Craig Monroe should of got the shot at the starting job (41 hrs last 2 years). With Alex Sanchez released this Spring Monroe will get his playing time this year.

Bobby Higginson deal
There are also a few relievers teams have expressed interest in, maybe it is a multiplayer deal. Tram may keep 12 pitchers, instead of 11 just so he dont have to let one go, of the RP's. Its in the article on the same page.

Bobby Higginson deal
He has like a career .359 OBP, because of his walks, 70 last year. He has said his goal is to be more aggressive this year, to be seen. He does give the fans the final out ball all the time....The kids like that...

Bobby Higginson deal
He has been a major frustration for us...The best he can do is draw a walk, and above average defense, strong arm.

Bobby Higginson deal
The following is from the Tigers official site tonight and was posted about 7:30pm... My question is do you really want him? and what prospect are we going to get? Thanks Lance P.S. Nice site by the way...check out motowntigers.com From here: higgy article Higgy deal could be close: What seemed like a remote possibility of finding a trade partner for Bobby Higginson is looking a little stronger. The Florida Marlins have continued to express interest in Higginson, even after he was not released Saturday, and might consider acquiring him in exchange for a mid-level prospect, industry sources told MLB.com. A Tigers scout was reportedly in attendance at the Marlins' game on Sunday against the Cardinals in Jupiter. Higginson was not on Sunday's travel roster, but a Marlins scout saw his performance on Saturday. The Tigers would have to pick up nearly all of the $8.85 million owed Higginson this season in the final year of his contract, but instead of releasing him, they would have the consolation of receiving something in return. Higginson would also have to approve a deal, and he said on Saturday that he does not want to go to a rebuilding team. The Marlins are obviously not in that situation. If a trade is consummated, it would put another former Tigers player on the Marlins, whose utility infielder, Damion Easley, had the final two years of his contract eaten by the Tigers when they released him out of camp two years ago. Other former Tigers on Florida's roster include Juan Encarnacion, Todd Jones and Matt Perisho. Mike DiFelice, another former Tigers player, was r eleased by the Marlins on Sunday.
