1. The Nats won't trade Patterson but the Stros will trade Lidge I hear Manny Ramirez is on the block isn't Manny an RBI machine? Lidge on the block ???My post was made under the complete control of sarcasm 791704 mine was made to make light of Tsomething dumb theory about RBI being an overrated stat
2. You people have to be realistic... There is no way the Nats would trade Patterson, the guy was once the gem of the D-Backs farm system until his shoulder went bum a couple years ago. Besides, the nats still consider themselves contenders... no way they?d give up a starter as good as Patterson. As for the whole Enc for Day thing... I don?t like it... but then again Beinfest is a genius and i?m sure he knows what he?s doing... he?s done strange things before and they?ve worked out.... i?m sure this was going to be part of a bigger deal. -prays for Brad Lidge- K The Nats won't trade Patterson but the Stros will trade Lidge I hear Manny Ramirez is on the block 791605 isn't Manny an RBI machine? Lidge on the block ???
3. Keep Encarnacion. He is a consistent contributor to the team. He has 34 RBIs this season which puts him in second behind Delgado on the team who has 35. I don't think we can afford to lose someone who drives in a lot of runs. Look how many we have been getting lately. Cabs also has 34. Our pitching might be lacking a bit, but I don't think it is worth gambling away one of our best RBIers in an attempt to get another pitcher. 791521 RBI are the most overrated stat in baseball, and way over rated in the case of 4-3-2-popup, he had 8 off 2 swings and hasn't been a real consistent RBI guy lately. 791524 that's the stupidest thing I've ever read RBI are the most overrated stat in baseball? no saves are the most overrated stat in baseball 791528 How are RBI not overrated? It has less to do with you, and everything about the team's performance around you. You can't "create" runs with the bases empty (aside from a HR), so calling someone an "RBI machine" is so unfounded it's almost laughable. The ability to hit with runners on is more fair of an indicator of a person's run producing ability than RBI total. 791531 WHAT?!?! The ability to hit with runners on is more fair of an indicator of a person's run producing ability than RBI total. that's what Juan Encarancion has done well this season is hit with a chance for an RBI . A players RBI totals are the second most looked for stat when they are going in for a new contract. Did you just start watching baseball? 791543 Encarnacion had 8 RBI off two swings, a quarter of his production. If 1/4 of your output comes from 2 swings, you sure aren't hitting with any consistency with runners on. And I'm sure glad you're not the GM of any team negotiating contracts, because you'd be handing out some pretty dumb money to players with inflated RBI totals. 791553 lets see I'd give A-Rod, A. Pujols, M. Ramirez M. Tejada dumb money b/c of there RBI totals

6. maybe the Marlins should go back to the Nats and tell them to add another player along with Day b/c they are taken on an injuried player
7. Trade JP??? Some of you people are smoking crack. If we trade anyone, it should be Leiter and Bump for a solid MRP. Also, I wouldn't mind trading Delgado for a speedy switch-hitting left fielder. Move Cabrera to 3rd and put Conine at 1st. Give Lowell some bench time until he re-learns the art of hitting. 791351 You tell people they are smocking crack and in the next paragraph say you wouldn't mind trading Delgado. Delgado and Cabrera are by far our two best offensive players. Talk about smoking crack...... :whistle 791378 agree Carlos is awesome and wait till he learns the league WATCH OUT
8. Enc is a solid RF but his bat against superior pitching is awful. Day is a solid pitcher, but would have like to see them go after Patterson. I think he's on the DL though
9. Hello I'm new, I like to say there are some great points being made on this messageboard.
