I can tell you a little bit about Marceaux, as I did sports information work with the McNeese baseball team and traveled with the team the last 3 years. First of all, he is a great kid. He has never had any problems with anything and he is a very likeable guy. His pitching stats this year don't look that impressive on a whole, but that is because of a slow start and lack of run support. In his first 5 starts this season, he got a combined 3 runs of support. Obviously, this isn't going to help his record out too much. His first win was against UNO where they scored 21 runs in support of him, but that still brought him to 1-3 on the season.
He had a start against Tulane this year, the #1 seed in the tournament and #1 most of the year, and he went 7 innings and gave up 3 hits and no runs. I believe he had two walks, one of them being an intentional walk and struck out 6. His injury that is sometimes noted came in almost freezing weather. We went for two midweek games at Wichita State and since he was going to start the weekend series, instead of throwing a bullpen session, he was going to start the game and throw 60 pitches. Turns out, that didn't go as planned. The weather being so cold and wet, I guess he didn't get stretched enough or he tightened up between stretching and starting the game, because about 20 pitches in he had a muscle pull. He ended up out for 3 weeks I believe, not exactly sure how long it was.
He got the loss at Wichita State to bring his record to 1-4 on the season. His next start back was also a loss in his first conference start of the season. After that, he was completely healthy from the injury he suffered and turned it on late in the season. He ended the season with a 3.05 ERA and a 6-5 record for the year. Beggining with his second game back, he didn't lose a start, going 5-0 with a sub 3 ERA. In those 5 starts, he had 4 complete games and the other game he went 8 innings but we had scored 17 runs and were up by alot.
