Career IPs: 580; Hits given up: 582: That's more than 1 hit per inning in his MINOR league career. Decidedly below-average. His strikeout rates aren't terrible, but don't inspire confidence either. However, if he is a sinker-baller, those typs tend to increase their strikeouts as they age...so more of those may be coming in the future. Average control; not a problem necessarily, but not a strength. Overall I see a slightly above-average minor league pitcher. However, he was the Cubs #1 pitching prospect for years: There must be a reason, right? Also, he's Girardi's #2 pitcher: There must be a reason, right? I haven't seen him pitch, which is why I was wondering if someone who had could tell me if there's somethng that he brings to the table that you can't measure in stats. Or, is he Girardi's #2 simply because he's the 3rd most experienced starter on the team and his name isn't Moehler?

Mitre's minor league numbers seem pretty mediocre to me, not to mention his horrid stats with the Cubs... I was just wondering if you all had seen anything this spring that would indicate that his stuff is better than his results so far...

Do any of y'all happen to know how many pitches Mitre and Olsen throw? Also, what do you expect out of Mitre this year?
