March 12, 200422 yr Dolphins agree to sign Rams' St. Clair to a 2-year, $2.6M contract By Alex Marvez Staff Writer Posted March 11 2004, 8:10 PM EST DAVIE -- The Dolphins found their new starting right tackle for the 2004 season Thursday night when agreeing to contract terms with John St. Clair of the St. Louis Rams. St. Clair will sign a two-year, $2.6 million deal that includes a $600,000 signing bonus. St. Clair, who was an unrestricted free agent, chose the Dolphins over four other interested teams. A 2000 third-round draft choice from Virginia, St. Clair started 13 games at right tackle for St. Louis in 2002. After the Rams acquired right tackle Kyle Turley in a trade with New Orleans last spring, St. Clair served as a backup lineman and as a third tight end in blocking situations. The Dolphins originally hoped to sign San Diego's Damion McIntosh as the replacement for departed right tackle Todd Wade (Houston). But McIntosh failed a team physical and underwent ankle surgery Wednesday, leaving his status in doubt for the 2004 season. The Dolphins are close to an agreement to still sign McIntosh to a multiyear contract but are expecting St. Clair to play right tackle this season. Copyright ? 2004, South Florida Sun-Sentinel
