D Whistle, most overrated player in the NBA aside of Tracy McGriddles. Breaking down as well. at least your knicks are making the playoffs this year! :thumbup The heat will not win the lottery and IF Isiah gets fired, the Knicks will be in contention faster then the Heat. The heat won a championship because David Stern had to protect a young star who is fading now. All those calls DWhistle got was just terrible, you're a blind homer if you don't realize that your ship' is tainted. D Whistle, most overrated player in the NBA aside of Tracy McGriddles. Breaking down as well. Next year your going to eat crow. For what? The dude is breaking down. What explosiveness? His jump shot is mediocre at best, dude is lucky he gets calls. D Whistle, most overrated player in the NBA aside of Tracy McGriddles. Breaking down as well. Hahahaha, thats funny, coming from a Muts and Knicks fan.... hahahahaha hahahhahaha funny guy The Knicks are one of the 2 only NBA teams who played in their original city and have a great history. Nuff said'. No need to get ignorant now. The Knicks are a total joke that hasnt won an NBA title in 35 years, a playoff game in 8 years, has the worst Front Office in the game, and is 1 tainted Draft Lottery from being completely irrelevant over the last 20+ years. And the heat are more relevant then the Knicks over the last 20+ years. New York is the mecca of basketball you fool. The heat, hell all of you miami scum are nothing but fair weather fans. Just look at attendance numbers, it's pretty laughable. The Marlins have like 5 fans, hell there are games with god damn $1 tickets. The heat, 2 years removed from a title, do they even count in the NBA? Hell, they probably can't beat UNC. And your "superstar" is breaking down as we speak. Yes, the city of New York is the mecca of basketball and MSG is the greatest arena ever. And the Knicks dont deserve to play in either. They are a complete joke. The ownership and front office is a complete joke. Granted, both the Heat and the Knicks are a terrible this year. But at least the Heat has some reasonable cap space opening up after 2009. As of now, the Knicks will have almost 95 million tied up until after the 2010 season. And I dont really care if New Yorkers show up and Miamians dont. Bragging about your fans is a telltale sign that your team sucks. I dont care what fans do. When you tune in or show up to the stadium, you watch the action on the field, not marvel at how many fans you have. Also, Id rather have our "breaking down" superstar than anyone on the Knicks roster. He has won more in his short career than your team has in my lifetime. I find it pretty laughable that youre just going to completely write him off after hes "only" dropping 24 every night and is still recovering from major shoulder and knee injuries. To just write off the rest of his career is more laughable than the predictions you make in your sig.

  3. Despite the fact that I'm a Dolphins fan, I have to say that Brett Favre is not only my all-time favorite QB, but also my all-time favorite player in NFL history. He had such a tremendous impact on the game and had such incredible work ethic that he is a rare football player kids can emulate. He will be sorely missed and I wish him nothing but luck as he enters the next stage in his life. Thank you for all you did for the game. I never thought I'd say this, but I agree with you. The personal demons and family tragedies that he has overcome in his career are remarkable. He is my favorite NFL player and is the greatest QB to ever play the game
  4. Perhaps a sign that we should be re-evaluating the penalties for non-violent drug offenses. :thumbup
  5. ESPN.com Dolphins executive vice president of football operations Bill Parcells told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that defensive end Jason Taylor will be playing for Miami in 2008 unless he chooses to retire, contrary to a published report. Yahoo Sports reported Saturday night that Taylor, an 11-year veteran who has played all of his 172 career games for the Dolphins, would be parting ways with Miami this offseason before the NFL draft this April. "This latest report is just another example of journalistic irresponsibility," Parcells told Mortensen. nice job parcells...you A. shut up the crowd that says we should get rid of him and B. shut up all the ridiculous media rumors about JT This is the only chance they have to trade him. In reality, the dolphins are not going to contend next year. Next offseason Jason Taylor has little to no value because he will turn 35 before the season starts. If he were traded this year he would bring the dolphins something that will help them out in the future. It also lets him have a chance at a championship. then we dont trade him...he still has value to us...and judging by our new front 7, getting pressure on the Qb, should be a piece of cake this next year...which will help out a young secondary that is built through the draft and help our offense that will probably struggle a big to put up points Do you mean Jason Ferguson, Reggie Torbor, Charlie Anderson and Randy Starks? Those were nice addtions for depth, but none of them are stars by any means. Zach Thomas had more tackles in 5 games than Anderson, Ferguson and Starks had combined. I guess it all really depends on what they could get for Jason Taylor. Three DT just got traded for 3rd and 5th rounders, but they were all under 30. I am not sure what Taylor could get at age 34. If they can get a 3rd rounder for him, they would be foolish to not pull the trigger. they dont have to be stars...they just have to fit the system...and a bill parcells lead team is one that gets consistent pressure on the QB...and if we keep JT, add chris long in the draft, plus quentin moses who parcells said he was in love with...we have gotten younger and faster on the defense...and i think we would be all the better in letting joey porter going if it doesnt cause a huge cap issue...most rome wasnt built in a day...but these signings address an aging defense and give us nice special teams depth... and with the draft and roster cuts and etc. you know parcells is gonna not only reshape the team in his image...but with a little luck and progression of some of the youngsters on offense...we could be a 2nd place team in the division Looking at our group of QBs, Id say theres no chance of that happening. JT should probably get traded now. We arent going to contend for at least another 2 seasons, at which point he'll be 37. Why hold on to him on an awful team for 2 more years when you could get some young players who can actually help us down the road?
  6. Everyone in the AFC is getting stronger except the Patsies. Karma is a bitch, man! Yeah, theyre gonna be awful this year
  7. I don't understand why "good news" or "sweet" when no one knows who this guy is, other than a dislike for WH. Considering Craterface's track record, isnt that reason enough? His track record with the Marlins? Sure. But as far as the Dolphins are concerned, I have no complaints. Yeah, we've done so well since he's been our owner

  9. Wanted to see if there were any songs for you folks that have brought you to tears before. There are some real deep ones out there. For me, the only one I can for sure say chokes me up every time I hear it is Cat's In The Cradle by Harry Chapin Ditto on Cats in the Cradle. Two songs that always choke me up are Carolina On My Mind by James Taylor and Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton
  10. This has to be a hoax Definitely not a hoax Link Well then, I stand corrected It looks like theyre trying something the Mavs have been doing for a few years: Link
  11. Hope the trade goes through. Wondering what George is thinking, honestly. He might be thinking that he wants to protect his Admin Bird rights so he can make more money this offseason
  12. Nets get Devin Harris for 34 year old Kidd and Grizzlies get Javaris Crittenton for much younger Gasol. Makes sense. Gasol's contract is much more difficult to move
  13. Somebody who actually knows what they are doing when it comes to building great teams on the Gasol trade: "What they did in Memphis is beyond comprehension," said Popovich. "There should be a trade committee that can scratch all trades that make no sense. I just wish I had been on a trade committee that oversees NBA trades. I'd like to elect myself to that committee. I would have voted no to the L.A. trade." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/bask...lies/index.html What a joke. Complaining about a trade because it strengthens a team youre competing with. I doubt he got too upset when the Lakers traded Shaq out of the West
  14. None of you would actually back any of this crap up with an actual bet of money that Crittenton would turn into an all-star because that would show you how low the odds are of you being successful. Why is it ok for the Grizzlies to make the same bet with a player they could have gotten more established players for? Because they slashed $61 million of payroll over the next 4 years
  15. Gasol traded to the Lakers for Kwame Brown, Crittenton, and 1st rounders in 2008 and 2010. http://commercialappeal.com/news/2008/feb/...-traded-lakers/ f***in ripoff bulls***!!! What the hell is wrong with the damn Grizzlies? They got anally raped three times over. OMG thats one of the worst trades of all time. The Magic would have given them a better package. I doubt that. What combo of expiring contracts, draft picks, and a young player could the Magic have possibly put together?? Um, Redick, Garrity, Arroyo, and Keith Bogans and two first round picks. If not better, just as good. The Bulls would have given them Nocioni or Gordon at the least. They basically gave away Gasol for expiring contracts. Crittenton is worthless. Heck, even the Heat could have given them a decent package. There must be like 10 NBA GMs banging their heads against the wall. Has to be one of the worst trades of all time. I dont think the trade is nearly as awful as youre suggesting. Crittenton alone is better than that Orlando package you mentioned, and getting 2 first rounders plus an expiring 9 million dollar contract is alright Those draft picks are worthless because the Lakers are well outside of the lottery. Crittenton average 3.3 ppg. How is he even remotely worth anything? Redick averages more points and Bogans at least gives you a defender who can shoot 3s and 10 ppg. Im not saying the Magic package is good. But the Lakers package is pretty much worthless except for cap space, which plenty of teams would have given them. Am I in the twighlight zone here? There are actually people defending this trade? Umm...Crittenton is a rookie playing on a contending team, playing a position with 2 more established players in front of him. Just because he isn't playing much doesn't mean he isn't a good prospect. Also, the draft picks aren't worthless. All first rounders have value and are tradeable commodities. Plus they get cap relief. I'm not saying this is a great trade for Memphis, just that it isn't as bad as you guys are making it out to be. A true valuable prospect in the NBA is a young player who has actually shown some production but is stuck. See Travis Outlaw in Portland. Season, PPG 2003-04 1.0 2004-05 5.4 2005-06 5.8 Using your mentality, Portland should have gotten rid of Outlaw because he was worthless his first 3 years. You missed my point by a mile. A valuable prospect in the NBA is not defined by subjective analysis of scouts and fans but on some form of production in greater minutes. You only get those minutes when you produce in practice and failure to get those minutes is a large indication that one is not productive. We have no clue how good a player is when he plays 5-15 mpg. But he is just not worth trading an established star for because for every Jermaine Oneal, there are 50 Korleone Youngs. You would be playing the lottery. Just because people talk him up, doesn't mean he will be productive given greater minutees. Outlaw is a valuable prospect because of what he did this season, but he was not a valuable prospect the last few years. He is a valuable prospect NOW and that is why other teams want him included in packages. No team would have wanted him the past few years. Notice how the Nets are not asking for the more raw prospects? Your logic seems to be prospects are worth it because some prospects become good. That's like saying it is worth searching for buries treasure because someone found some one time. Johan Petro. Gerald Green Jiri Welsch Qyntel Woods I kind find 50 guys who are more like them than are like Jermaine Oneal. OK, so a lot of the time prospects dont pan out. Thanks Captain Obvious, we really needed you on that one. My point about Outlaw was that if Portland felt the same way you do about guys that havent done anything yet, then they never would have just let him go and never reap the benefit of taking him in the first place Crittentons lack of minutes is not an indication that he is garbage, its an indication that he is still very young and not yet ready to play when Kobe and Fisher/Farmar are in front of him. He has the potential to be a good guard in this league, and its obvious that scouts in the Grizzlies organization that know much more about player evaluation than you or me feel he could give them something down the road. And if it doesnt work out, then Memphis only has to pay him about 1.5 mil/yr for the next 2 years. Its not like theyre gambling the franchise on him. No matter how you feel about him, its still better than the Magic package you put together. EDIT: To make the salary cap math work for this trade, the Lakers will sign and trade Aaron McKie. Also, LA is dealing the draft rights to Pau's younger brother Marc.

There are actually people defending this trade? The Magic package that you are throwing out there, for a basement team like the Grizzlies, is completely worthless. JJ Redick is a four year college player and has been just godawful so far. Keith Bogans is a good player but is going to be a free agent at the end of the season anyways. Besides, what good is Bogans when your franchise is this bad? Crittenton is only 2 years removed from High School and is on a playoff team, so of course hes not going to get any playing time. And in terms of picks, both the Magic and Lakers are going to be in the playoffs for the next few years anyways so thatd be fairly equal between the two clubs Memphis was just trying to get some cap space to use in free agency, so unless there was a worse team than LA willing to give it to them, or someone willing to give up a young star player, I think this is just about as much as they could hope for

  19. Roger Federer is being taken to the absolute limit by Janko Tipsarevic, down 5-4 in the final set right now EDIT: Federer holds serve, now tied 5-5. I have no idea how I ended up watching tennis at 4:30 in the morning but this is great stuff right here
  20. I guess thats why his username isnt futureheatgm
  21. It can be fixed, but it depends on how soon you force shaq into a trade to a contender to finish his career, or how soon he takes a paycut admitting he isn't worth the 30 million he's signed for. His paycheck is preventing them from havign space under the cap to add impact players. Chris He already took a paycut a year after he got here for a 5 year, $100 million deal (this year and 2 years left) You cant just restructure in the NBA. Neither party has an out clause so he is locked into the next 2+ years at 20 million each, unless someone takes on his salary, which I doubt will ever happen From CBS Sportsline: Because of the amount it cost to tie up O'Neal to an extension prior to the championship run, Riley had to make fiscally responsible concessions to this year's squad that have resulted in going to battle with guys like Chris Quinn, Luke Jackson, Earl Barron, Alexander Johnson and Joel Anthony. That's all understandable. Link: http://www.sportsline.com/nba/story/10567564/2 about halfway down Your point?
  22. To rot in the Bayou? How many national championship games is UM playing in this year? LSU is arguably THE premier college football program. And yeah, these recruits are going to UM because of the education they'll get. Louisiana is a mess, and it'll be atleast 3 good years til it's rebuilt. Katrina did too much damage to the area from what people who live in the area have said to me. I don't blame him for backing off his claim to UM, the program is in the dumps and he has lived in South Florida the entire life. I blame him for making the statment that it was UM or bust, and I blame him for picking LSU when USC or any other better prepared area would have loved to have him. He could have went anywhere, but he picked a area devastated by natural disaster, and could further be set back by any other hurricane. Chris Greatest post ever.
  23. BTW, is Lebron going to be eligble for free agency anytime soon? His rookie contract should have expired, and I bet he has no problem testing the market and experiancing another city. He is a cleveland boy, but I don't know if he wants to be one forever. He's locked in until at least 2010, and has the option for 2011
