Marlins launch Spanish website

MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins announced today that they will become the sixth Major League Baseball team to launch a website in Spanish on Saturday, April 10, at 10:00 am. Fans will be able to access the site through visiting www.floridamarlins.com and clicking on the link on the right side of the screen. Beginning on Tuesday, April 13th at 10:00 am, the site will be accessible by visiting www.espanol.flamarlins.com.

The website will include up-to-the-minute baseball information and stories in Spanish from The Associated Press. Translations of feature stories from MLB beat writers will appear in Spanish on the website regularly, as well as an exclusive weekly column from Marlins Spanish television announcer Razl Striker, Jr. The site will also include headlines, recaps and scores from around the league, as well as photo galleries from Spring Training and from the 2003 season.

Fans will also be able to listen to Hall-of-Famer Felo Ramirez and Yiky Quintanas live broadcast from WQBA 1140 AM by signing up for MLB Gameday Audio. And to get even closer to the action, fans can purchase Florida Marlins tickets and official Marlins merchandise through the website.

The website will also feature information about the Marlins Spanish language and Latin cultural events, including the popular Cafecitos con los Marlins and Budweiser Fiesta Latina. Information will also be available about the Marlins community programs and upcoming promotions throughout South Florida.

The Marlins join the Anaheim Angels, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and Texas Rangers in producing both English and Spanish websites. The Montreal Expos feature both a French and an English website.
