Mabdul Doobakus
I'm going to Tokyo in a couple days, so I was looking into buying tix to a ballgame there, when I came across the great Shinnosuke Abe. He just turned 25 today. He's a catcher. And he's currently on his way to the Japanese triple crown. I don't know anything else about him. I mean he probably looks like Ichiro, and weighs about 160, which might not be something you're looking for in an MLB catcher, but who gives a crap. What could be cooler than a Japanese catcher? Forget Castro, I want Abe. Update: He's about 5'11", 180 lbs.
KJC
he isnt eligable to be a FA they might not want to "post" him to MLB teams since the Giants have a large financial backing. and how is your starting catcher goign to comunicate with your pitchers when he speaks zero english? this is one position i think would be really hard to adapt. Hey, quit raining on my parade... He's a home run hitting JAPANESE catcher...this trumps all other considerations. I don't care if we have to kidnap him. RippyO
sorry for being logical and informed :lol Boo to you, KJC. It's not like pitchers and catchers communicate using the Queen's English. He could learn enough to get by.

MarlinsinPBC
no way a 180 pound guy is going to be more than a 12-15 homer guy in the majors best case scenario with this guy would probably be Jason Kendall and if he is putting up big time numbers in Japan, the price to sign him will probably be more than he is worth in major league value

Many of these guy are overrated. The SS Matsui for the Mets hasn't done much and he's better than this guy. Give Matt Treanor a chance! Catchers have been surviving for years when the other pitcher doesn't know the language. You speak vuisually until you can pick up enough of the pitcher's language to speak coherently (nd vice versa), and then you go about things that way. Adaptation is necessary for survival.
