ESPNs take on the Fish

The NL East is not weak. Its teams have the names and talent to get things done, but they just aren't hitting with runners in scoring position.

there is no way the NL east is as weak as the AL central

Almost all of the AL central teams are overachieving, and 3 NL East teams are underachieving (Marlins, Phils, Braves, possibly Mets)

Both the Marlins and the Phillies have a realistic shot at the Wild Card if they don't win the division. The Mets have an outside shot at the Wild Card that will become realistic if they keep up the good ball they are playing.

Can't say that about the loser of the AL Central.

As long as the Phillies are under Bowa's control don't expect them to be a "Wild Card Contender" and as usual the Mets do well then... well... I think you know... similar to the AL Central... Hey DurableTear,

I find it amusing now that your DRays are having some success you are getting cocky. Funny. I will let you keep talking all that smack. At the end of the season, your DRays will find their proper place and that will be well-behind the Yankees. And you can NEVER say that your DRays ever won anything against the Yankees like our MARLINS DID.

I dont care who is stronger in whatever division. Get to the playoffs. Then talk some sh*%. Until then, get to the back of the bus. The Marlins will be there - will you? what the hell are you talking about??

he didnt say a word about TB and he wasnt talking smack

we are talking about how the NL east is a weak division

and, oh by the way....it is clear that the AL is better than the NL this year...look at interleague play....the fact that the AL central plays primarly AL teams and we in the NL east play NL teams...and the fact that the NL East and AL central have similar records...should show that the AL central is better than the NL east...seeing as how they have the same record while playing better teams

Great stuff jonny... if the Marlins were in the AL East... they'd be in the same situation the Rays are in...

Me getting cocky? I just find it amusing that everyone in this board is so desperate while we're still in 1st...

Me getting cocky? I just find it amusing that everyone in this board is so desperate while we're still in 1st... im surprised we aint in 3rd the way we have been playing. the mets/phillies will probly be close all year. if we dont win the division it wont be a shock.

what the hell are you talking about??

he didnt say a word about TB and he wasnt talking smack

Seems like when I disagree with jonny he takes it personal...

He brings the heat and attitude but leaves logic behind... :plain

How dare you say such a thing on the week before the all-star game.

Save the interleague play crap until the NL teams get a chance to play their full slate of home games too. Take out the Yankees and the AL's record is actually close to league-average for home and road performances this season (.525 to .535).

The NL East is struggling for one reason. Its teams are not getting timely hits. Batting Avg with runners in scoring position:

23 NY Mets .249

25 Atlanta .248

26 Florida .246

28 Philadelphia .234

30 Montreal .206
