Posted June 29, 200420 yr Good lord. I think we should just dig up the D-Rays vents from the weekend. There really isn't anything else to say. Oh, except this: I'd trade our entire AA system to bring Pudge back. I'm officially over the hatred, I welcome him back with open arms. But seriously, if we don't do soemthing soon, I'm gonna scream. I know the only reason we're waiting is because it means we have to pay less to whomever we acquire, but come on... DO SOMETHING BEINFEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 29, 200420 yr yea...i agree marlins needs to make a move...how about getting a vet guy behind the p[late that can bring his bat,or get a left fieder even though conine been pretty hot latey we can use him as a bat off the bench we need sum-1 :banghead
June 29, 200420 yr I agree that we should trade the farm away to get another bat, because if we make sure to keep guys like Cabs, JP, and Choi for long time contracts then we wont ever need the farm. So please do something now FO.
June 29, 200420 yr Screw Fudge! I dont want him back and it aint because of pride or his stupidity. It is because...are you ready for this...WE DONT NEED HIM TO WIN! Fudge was successful because Castillo and JP were successful. Successful at what? BEING AGGRESSIVE ON THE BASEPATHS! When was the last time you saw Pierre bunt? Castillo? How about steal a base? Either one of them? They have been taken out of their game and thus, the Marlins will have a hard time winning. We have to rely on the home run - and we are NOT a power team. That is why we are losing. We arent being aggressive enough! Small ball. We aint seen it all year. And that is another reason why Conine is best hitting 3rd because he can fit into that style of play. He is not a power hitter and that is why he has been struggling. Again, with JP and Castillo getting on base and being aggressive, the opposing defense and pitcher have to account for them and adjust. Last season, Fudge got the benefit of that because he is NOT a power hitter and makes a lot of contact. He drove the ball through the big hole in the right side of the field (because they had to adjust and account for JP and/or Castillo on base). Conine can do the exact same thing. Then, once we continue to play small ball, teams will try to take us out of that and we hit them with the big bats in the middle of the lineup - Lowell, Cabrera, Choi. That is how we won last year, and until Jack gets over himself, that is how we will win this year. I have been saying this all year long and STILL NO ONE LISTENS TO ME!! Again, he is my lineup - when you see it, we will start winning. Until then, we will be mediocre. JP Castillo Conine Lowell Cabs Choi AGON Red/Treanor P

JP Castillo Conine Lowell Cabs Choi AGON Red/Treanor P Well, how about Pudge's presence got them pitches to hit. Look, I was pissed at Pudge and I still don't "like" him for what he did, but we need three things: a catcher, a hard hitting 3-hole hitter, and a fiery leader, Pudge is all three. Pierre ran last year because people didn't know/care about his speed, but he and Luis saw more pitches to hit because of Pudge batting right behind them. Lemme ask you a question, who would you pitch to Pierre/Castillo or Cabrera. Right now, if I'm any team in the NL East I'd rather pitch to Cabrera...

I have been saying for a while now that Cabs has been struggling and should not be our 3 hitter because he is still very young. He has a lot to learn. I dont necessarily think pitchers last year pitched to Pierre and Castillo because of Fudge. They pitched to them because a) they were not power threats, b) there was no one on base in front of them usually, c) because they did not want to walk them and put them on base. In regards to C, it is only because JP and Castillo caused havoc on the basepaths last seaon - and really, only JP did that effectively. 65 steals. This season, 18. Podsednik has 31 last I checked - that is where, and I hate to say this, JP should be. But he has taken himself out of his game in a lot of ways. Small ball aint working because guys are doing what worked last year. Conine could easily replace Fudge offensively. .297 16HRs 85RBI, that isnt lofty at all. Conine can do that very easily. His RISP is terrible this year because HE has no one to protect him in the lineup behind him. That is also why Fudge was so successful. He has Lowell and Cabs and Conine and Lee behind him throughout the season. Pitchers HAD to pitch to him. With Conine hitting in front of AGon, Red, even Choi, pitchers will take their chances and let Conine walk before they let him hit anything. Again, my plan makes too much sense. And that is probably why it wont ever be implemented. This team needs to get back to small ball, and putting Conine at 3 will help. Cabs is struggling, like you pointed out and should not be forced into the 3 or 4 (let alone the 2!) slots in the lineup. Get back to small ball, Jack. Get Pierre running and Castillo running. I dont care if they get thrown out - make the catchers and pitchers nervous. You stand a better chance of winning by being aggressive then you do by station to station baseball with this team. You have to work with what you got.
June 29, 200420 yr Just one comment on Pudge. I don't want Pudge back. And we will never get him back. I didn't think he had a lot of his best baseball left. But right now, the guy is just putting a tremendous season. I wouldn't be surprised, if he ends up being the AL MVP. I haven't seen the "32 year old catcher in decline", that all here were claiming. 4/40 ain't looking too bad now. btw, I'm with Jonny on this one. We do not need Pudge. What is hurting us the most, is we are deviating from what put us over the top last year. Small ball. JP must go back to his all ways. If JP continues to struggle, this team won't go anywhere.

I just don't think that anyone right now has that same kind of edge...Lowell or Cabrera could, but right now Cabrera'll chace anything in the dirt and Lowell will just pop out to the first baseman...
