Posted June 30, 200420 yr us back wilson Valdez? If we aquired Koch for the 8th innings to get us to the closer, why isn't he in instead of bringing Benitez in again in the 8th. Why to we aquire a pitcher that is struggling when we had an entire bullpen of guys like that already?
June 30, 200420 yr He is not pitching in the 8th because for one he should be no where near a major league ball park right now and #2 well #1 is enough.
June 30, 200420 yr He has the talent, just needs to get his control down...mechanics It really depends if Koch has the work ethic to get at it
June 30, 200420 yr Why the hell would you want Wilson Valdez back? Bring some more speed back to the ball club?
June 30, 200420 yr I still like the trade, but we need to throw him out there more. Give him at least a chance to prove he's still got something, just keep him on a short leash and limit him to 1 inning at a time. After a closer blows a game, he gets a chance in the next save opportunity, Koch isn't going to get better not pitching in a tight situation...
June 30, 200420 yr Its gonna take some time for Koch to get his s*** together...but I'm sure he will Valdez....we don't really need him anyways
June 30, 200420 yr Because we didn't acquire Koch to pitch the 8th inning. We acquired Koch to become a stopper, to become that second overpowering arm that could come in the clutch and shut down opposing batters like Benitez has. If that comes in the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th innings it doesn't matter. Anyways he pitched last night. As did Oliver, who didn't warm-up either.
June 30, 200420 yr Why the hell would you want Wilson Valdez back? seriously. who cares about wilson valdez? he was a nominal trading chip who was never going to make it to our big club. if you want, you could even think of koch as a "prospect" of sorts... he has the potential to be good for us this season... and the white sox are paying almost all of his contract. i've got no problem.

So I am sure you were one of the Few who wanted to see Koch get a chance to prove himself in the 8th? For now the only time Koch should ever come into a ball game is if it's a blowout. I don't know how Rosenthal is going to pull this one off but he has done it before so......
