Source: Hillary Clinton to be VP Choice for Kerry

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- A Washington political source has said Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John F. Kerry will select former First Lady and New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to be his vice presidential running mate at the Democratic National Convention at the end of this month.

Speaking on condition of anonymity to the Drudge Report, this "most influential and well-placed" insider said "all the signs point in her direction."

He continued that putting Mrs. Clinton on the Democratic ticket "is the solution to every Kerry problem."

The insider said the 2004 presidential election will come down to national security, health care, and the economy.

But, the insider said, "[it's] not necessarily in that order."

On national security, the insider said Kerry believes he is most qualified because of his service in Vietnam, and he does not need to pick a running mate with a strong military background.

"[T]he suggestion that [Kerry] needs to strengthen the ticket with someone who has national security credentials is dismissed as foolish," the insider noted to Drudge.

However, on health care, the insider said the Democrats believe this is the key domestic issue they can run on.

"But how to make [health care] the dominant topic of conversation -- break through war and terrorism? Hillary Clinton," the insider exclaimed to Drudge.

Noting Mrs. Clinton's previous attempts to institute national socialized health care during the early days of former President Bill Clinton's first term in office were failures, the insider said Mrs. Clinton could point to her and her husband's books which explain that she was defeated by a "vast right-wing conspiracy."

"She tried to provide health care before, and the Republicans in Congress attacked her and her husband and used a bunch of scandals [sic] dirty tricks to stop it, we know they are scandals and dirty tricks because the former president's book says so," the insider stated to Drudge.

Adding that Mrs. Clinton would be deemed a "health care expert," the insider said Republicans would have a difficult time criticizing her for pushing government-sponsored health care.

"Her response -- it wasn't [government medicine], and the Republicans are a bunch of dirty tricksters, 'Liars and Crooks,' as Kerry calls them, and its been too long and Democrats won't let the Republicans do it to them again," the insider exclaimed to Drudge.

This would also take away one of the major accomplishments boasted by President George W. Bush during his first term -- prescription drug coverage for seniors.

"You will have a fully engaged national debate on health care from now until the election," the insider predicted to Drudge.

As for the economy, the insider said the current plan is to "say Bush sucks" at it, but the job creation, economic growth and consumer confidence numbers this year are all up.

The insider said Kerry must push the image that American needs to "get back to the Clinton Era when 22 million jobs were created."

"You can't do much better at making that point then Kerry-Clinton 2004," the insider explained to Drudge.

As for other potential problems for Mrs. Clinton, the insider said the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the Whitewater controversy, the death of Vince Foster, and the billing records blunder in the White House travel office have all been covered in the books written by Mrs. Clinton and the former president.

"All Republican slime tactics," the insider said Mrs. Clinton could say to escape judgment for each of those charges.

As for the reasoning behind choosing Mrs. Clinton, the insider said, "t's all about the base."

"Republicans are bumping up against the ceiling with support from their base and Democrats are sitting on the floor," the insider commented to Drudge. "This would change that."

Furthermore, the media would "fall in love" with the Kerry-Clinton ticket and would allow it to "dominate the news through July and up to the Republican convention" in late August.

The insider said Mrs. Clinton would agree to do this and explain that she is "doing it for the good of the country."

"I am convinced this is going to happen," the insider concluded to Drudge.

In fact, the insider said this would be a win-win situation for Mrs. Clinton if Kerry makes her his vice presidential nominee.

"If Bush wins [in November], then she is the nominee for 2008 because it will be all Kerry's fault," the insider deducted to Drudge. "If she wins, she is the first woman VP of the United States, which would help her become the first woman president of the U.S. It would be historic in its own right and change the nature of politics in this country, and mark her place in the history books forever -- a different history than her husband's."

Sorry there's no link, got it in an email.

Pure speculation though... I wish Kerry would go with Hillary, but he is hell bent on including a more moderate ticket in his campaign. :confused

Well, if he doesn't go with Hillary, we are poised for a titanic election in 2008 if Bush wins this one.

who's jimmy moore and wtf is talon news?

and who the hell gets random news articles in their email?

lol alkazoid.

I keep hearing our very own Sen. Graham's name as VP candidate.

I'm pretty sure Graham is done with politics.

And alky, it was forwarded to me.

Dropping a bombshell like Uber-b***h HRC runs counter to what Kerry is trying to do to win the election.

Kerry has decided to just hang around, keep his face out there a bit and give GW enough rope to hang himself by the time November rolls around.

Throwing HRC on the ticket immediately takes alot of the focus of the campaign media off GW and right onto the Dems' ticket.

Kerry's camp seems to think that GW is running himself into the ground, so why would they do anyting to distract the collective focus of the country on the president's current political problems?

IMO Furman is on the munny with Graham, or at least someone very much like him who won't rock to boat. Yeah, he won't electrify the campaign, but Kerry seems to just want to stay the course right now anyways.

If HRC runs as VP there will be an absolute firestorm of vitriole and spite like never before seen in American politics. If you think conservatives hate White Trash, dishonest piece of filth Bill CLinton, just wait till you see their reaction to his carpet-bagging, apologist, ignorant, self-serving political whore wife of his.

And it wouldn't surprise me at all if the GOP had a few aces in the hole as far as dirt on Hillary.

I don't want Graham and I don't think any reasonable democrat who wants to win does either. Everything his daughter touched turned to stone(involved in both her father's and deans campaign) and frankly unless you want The Charisma effect of Gore,Lieberman than you would get it with that ticket.

I like Dick Gephardt but sadly no one else does even though Missouri is a big pickup. HRC isn't getting the nod but she WOULD have an effect. If The Clinton's were not a player for tossup voters, Bush wouldn't have bent over backwards for them when they were at The Whitehouse.

On the fence Clinton democrats will make up a part of this election but either way I don't want Hilary because like has been said she would overshadow be safe go with Edwards.

Plus I think putting Edwards in this role would either help Kerry in 08 or if Kerry loses and have Edwards ready for 2008. I know Santorum is going to run and I would do anything to stop him from winning and I think you need a fresh face kid like Edwards getting ready for the spotlight because he would be key.
