Announced starters: NL: Piazza, Pujols, Kent, Rolen, Renteria, Bonds, Griffey, Sosa AL: Pudge, Giambi, Soriano, ARod, Jeter, Manny, Vlad, Ichiro

rferry
NATIONAL LEAGUE CA Mike Piazza (NYM); Paul LoDuca (LAD), Johnny Estrada (ATL). 1B Albert Pujols (STL); Todd Helton (COL). Piazza at catcher and the old outfield keeps me from taking 3 firstbasemen. Sean Casey and Jim Thome should be here and if Joe Kennedy's could crack the NL's staff they would. 2B Jeff Kent (HOU); Mark Loretta (SDP), Luis Castillo (FLA). Homer pick? Maybe. Exhibition game or not defense is important and Luiy is better in that department than Todd Walker SS Edgar Renteria (STL); Jack Wilson (PIT). Ugh.. can Lowell or Rolen play this position? 3B Scott Rolen (STL); Mike Lowell (FLA), Aramis Ramirez (CHC). OF Barry Bonds (SFG), Ken Griffey Jr (CIN), Sammy Sosa (CHC); Bobby Abreu (PHI), Steve Finley (ARI), Lance Berkman (HOU), J.D. Drew (ATL), Adam Dunn (CIN). Abreu deserves it so does Berkman and Dunn. SP Tom Glavine. Yeah. Tom Glavine. Absolutly stellar. P Roger Clemens (HOU), Jason Schmidt (SFG), Ben Sheets (MIL), Carlos Zambrano (CHC), Livan Hernandez (MON), Randy Johnson (ARI), Carl Pavano (FLA), Eric Gagne (LAD), Armando Benitez (FLA). Starting pitching is way too strong to waste a spot on Danny Graves or any other mediocre closer packing up the save stats. Pavano barely nudges out Odalis Perez and Al Leiter. AMERICAN LEAGUE CA Ivan Rodriguez (DET); Victor Martinez (CLE), Javy Lopez (BAL). 1B Jason Giambi (NYY); Frank Thomas (CWS), Ken Harvey (KCR) With Beltran heading to Houston a few weeks early we need a Royal and that puts a number of qualified candidates out: Ortiz, Konerko, Hatteberg, Hafner... 2B Alfonso Soriano (TEX); Ron Belliard (CLE) SS Derek Jeter (NYY); Miguel Tejada (BAL), Carlos Guillen (DET). The shortstops class this year is poor in both leagues, but atleast the AL has one of its stars hitting well. 3B Alex Rodriguez (NYY); Melvin Mora (BAL), Hank Blalock (TEX). Who says the AL has few good third basemen? Not since they move their shortstops and outfielders there. OF Vlad Guerrero (ANA), Manny Ramirez (BOS), Hideki Matsui (NYY); Gary Sheffield (NYY), Ichiro Suzuki (SEA), Vernon Wells (TOR), Carl Crawford (TAM). No one's really blowing anyone away here. Besides Vlad and Manny you're talking about a bunch of players having just above-average seasons. Crawford is limited to pinch-running duties and fills the Devil Ray quota, as does Vernon Wells for the 'Jays. SP Mark Mulder (OAK) P Curt Schilling (BOS), C.C. Sabathia (CLE), Kenny Rogers (TEX), Tim Hudson (OAK), Freddy Garcia (CWS), Pedro Martinez (BOS), Mariano Rivera (NYY), Kevin Foulke (BOS), Eddie Guardado (SEA), Joe Nathan (MIN). A poor starting cast helps a less-than-dominanting Pedro keep his spot. It might have opened up a spot for a setup man (Francisco Rodriguez) too if we didn't need a Twin. ChoitotheWorld
Doesn't matter as long as Pavano is on it.
