July 30, 200422 yr Only 2 days to go before the deadline and here are some of the names being tossed around from both the Marlins and other teams. Marlins: Jeff Conine, Hee Seop Choi, Abe Nunez, Jason Stokes, Bill Murphy, Brad Penny Other Teams: Paul LoDuca, Jose Guillen, Brent Mayne, Carlos Beltran, Kaz Ishii, Danny Bautista, Brian Lawerence, Steve Finley, Scot Shields, Jose Contreras, John Reidling, Luis Vizcaino, Travis Harper, Jorge Sosa, Admin Walker ...................................... I would hate to see Brad Penny leave (won 2 WS games against the Yankees) but I know it is part of the business and we won't be able to sign him long term. Hopefully if he leaves that means we can resign Pavano and we should be able to get something good for Brad. No matter what DO NOT TRADE CONINE or Choi if you ask me. LoDuca would be nice although he is 32, he is a big time upgrade. Jose Guillen would be incredible if Beinfest could pull that off. The Marlins have liked Reidling and Vizcaino for a long time. Either one would help our pen big time! Realistically Beltran and Finley are pretty much out of the question. If Im Beinfest I make Jose Guillen my #1 priority and if the Angels don't trade him then I turn to the LoDuca/Ishii trade for Brad Penny. If we make that trade then we still need to get 1 OF bat (maybe a cheap guy like Mackowiak). What would you guys like to see happen? something that is realistic.....
July 30, 200422 yr You forgot Adam Dunn. I think dealing Penny would be a solid move - but you have to get a starter in return and you have to get value for Penny. Aka. young talent that can produce right now.
July 30, 200422 yr Author where's scot Shields coming from? Brian Lawrence? 482944[/snapback] Todays paper. Add Mota, Encarnicion, and Adam Dunn to the rumors.
