MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins today named Paul Fournier the Clubs new Strength and Conditioning Director. Senior Vice President and General Manager Admin Beinfest made the announcement.

Fournier, in his second season with the Marlins, assumed the strength and conditioning duties for the Major League club for home games on May 25. Prior being named to his new position, Fournier spent his previous six seasons (with Florida and Montreal) as coordinator in charge of training and conditioning for all minor leaguers and rehabilitation programs for both Major League and minor league players.

In corresponding organizational moves, Gene Basham was promoted to Coordinator, Strength, Conditioning and Rehabilitation from his position as trainer for AA Carolina. Basham will assume the responsibilities of training and conditioning for all minor leaguers and rehabilitation programs for both Major League and minor league players. Brad LaRosa was named the new AA Carolina trainer, Frank Briceland, the former trainer for the GCL Marlins, was named the trainer for the New York-Penn Leagues Jamestown Jammers and Michael West was named the new GCL trainer
