Did De La Hoya quit?

Featured Replies

I don't know about you, but I think De La Hoya quit in the 9th.

I think he realized that he didn't have a chance and decided to quit instead of risking getting seriously hurt.

What a shame. The fight sucked ass. . . .

Um... The scorecard read 77-75. That's NOT that bad. And consdiering De La Hoya went up to that weight class he looked good. Only thing is, he got knocked out on a body blow. I don't think he quit, though. The scoring was too close.

And if you call 9 rounds a bad fight then you need to get your head checked. I'm tired of watching the heavyweights not do anything and then go down. At least these guys went the distance.

The first 6 rounds of the fight were basicaly a non-event, and the fight was tied. On the 7th and the 8th De La Hoya was getting some good pounding from Hopkins. De La hoya looked very tired after the 6th, and Hopkins looked like he didn't do a thing (he was fresh).

On paper it may have looked close, but after the 8th it was evident that De La Hoya didn't have a chance.
