FilterXG
I was talking to my aunt who works at the state capitol. Basically, she said that the hurricane's have and will continue to drain our economy. Both by decreased revenues (tourism) and increased costs (cleanup). The sum of it is that the Legislature is unlikely to pay the $30M gap this year. Unfortunately there isn't much more to report on this front. It would be nice to see a story on this in one of the local papers.
RockyMountainMarlin
There is no doubt the hurricane caused massive damages. I've talked with lots of people in the hotel and restaurant business around here and they said this is one of the worst summers. If it wasn't for the MTV awards and the presidential debate, it would have been ever worse. Hopefully the local government realizes that a nice ballpark for baseball will increase crowds and help draw fans from visiting teams as well.
